This month’s Generation X [RadioShow] was a 2-hour special of pure nuskool hardcore euphoria among my special guest, Amaretto from Japan, that I finally met in person in last September at Kniteforce eminent Knite Club event in Scala, London.

Born in the mid-90s, Amaretto, is a devoted vinyl head with releases on Kniteforce White, 4 The Core, and Second Drop Records, but to name a few. His journey into Hardcore began through Konami rhythm games back in his school days. Sparking a deep dive into Happy Hardcore, Jungle, and Oldskool Breakbeat genres he now champions with a raw passion and respect for the '90s rave legacy. A regular fixture at Japan’s legendary WEEKEND RAVERS parties and armed with synths like the Alpha Juno 2 and Korg 01/W, he brings his own twist on the oldskool hardcore nostalgic sound.

Shouts out to each and everyone locked in! We both do hope that you enjoy the whole session of hard kicking breakbeats and 4/4 rave pressure.

This special one-hour show is dedicated to the life and legacy of the late Eamon Downes - the visionary behind Liquid.

Co-founded by Eamon Downes and Shane Heneghan, Liquid burst onto the scene in 1991 with the iconic ‘Sweet Harmony’ - a timeless rave anthem built on CeCe Rogers’ ‘Someday’, layered over rolling breakbeats. Originally pressed on just 500 white labels, the track exploded, leading to a full release on XL Recordings and securing its place in UK club history. After Shane’s departure, Eamon continued Liquid as a solo project, pushing the sound further with standout tracks like ‘Time to Get Up’ and ‘One Love Family’ (both named Mixmag Singles of the Week), and later collaborating with Mark Coupe (aka Sanxion) to release deeply crafted, powerful records.

As a personal tribute to an artist I had the honour of interviewing, hosting, this set weaves together classics and recent works for a sound rooted in unity, emotion, and truth.

Eamon was more than a producer. He was a trailblazer, a kind soul, and someone who touched countless lives - not just through his music, but through his humour, spirit, and generosity.

This showcase is for him. For the scene. For all of us.

February’s edition of Generation X [RadioShow] at Aaja Radio, spotlighted a very special and glowing tribute to “Deliverance” - the one and only album by Baby D one of the most iconic names to emerge from the UK rave scene.

Released on 8th February 1996 via Systematic Records, a sub-label of London Records, “Deliverance” turned 30 last week. The album reached No. 5 on the UK Albums Chart and cemented Baby D’s place in Dance music history. That same year, the group won Best Dance Act at the inaugural MOBO Awards. Baby D scored two UK Top 3 singles with “So Pure” and “I Need Your Lovin”, while “Let Me Be Your Fantasy” reached No. 1 on the UK Singles Chart in November 1994.

Baby D was formed through Production House Records, the influential label founded in 1987 by Phil Fearon (best known for his Brit-soul success with Galaxy) alongside Laurie Jago and Raj Malkani. Based in north-west London, Production House became a cornerstone of early UK hardcore and rave culture.
The original Baby D line-up featured Dee on lead vocals, Claudio Galdez on keyboards and windsynth, and Terry Jones (aka MC Nino) on vocals and keyboards. The trio first appeared in 1989 on “Casanova” by Jazz & The Brothers Grimm, the project of Floyd Dyce from The House Crew, who played a pivotal role in shaping Baby D’s early sound and went on to write and produce their defining anthem, “Let Me Be Your Fantasy”.
