What did you make of 4 hero's two pages album on talkin loud,

All music on Purveyors was played on synths (kit list already on this thread). You can get very close to live instrument sound if you play/program the sound correctly - it's all about; tone, timing and dynamics.

Haven't heard 4 hero's LP - To be honest... I didn't really listen to anyone else as I was in the studio every day for years - so didn't have time. Also I wanted my sound to be absolutley recognisable. I probably managed this by not being influenced too much by what others were doing (although you can't completley avoid it).

Elusive9T2 wrote: 1. Do you have a list of tunes you produced & is that lost in time?
2. Do you have the real track names for 20 hurts (edit I see this has been asked already oops)
3. You have some DAT's left & would you release them digitally or allow some vinyl pressings
4. Do you have any unreleased tunes on DAT's from 91-94?
5. Did you produce this record below?
I've got a bet on with someone that you did, because it is credited to someone else :-)

1. Yes I have a list of sorts but there are too many tunes/aliases even for me to remember - about 300
2. Yes I have the DAT for 20 Hurts
3. I'm currently exporing my options in terms of back catalogue release and release of future work
4. Yes, I have some un released stuff
5. I'm afraid you have lost your bet, it's definatley not me but I can see what they were doing. If you check you won't find that many type vocals on my stuff - should have been a clue, hope you haven't bet much money on it.

jamie wrote: there is one Jack Smooth-style track that I heard Ratty play a few times that I'm sure was never released. I'm just intrigued to know who created it as the stabs and strings are just epic. In fact, I'd go as far as to say it's one of the best old skool hardcore / jungle techno tracks I've ever heard. It sounds like you engineered it or at was at least a Sound Entity production . If anyone can tell me who has a DAT (maybe wishful thinking), I'd be interested to purchase a copy!

Now this is difficult. It is exactly what I was doing at the time but I don't remember making it. I can even recognise my keyboards (the stab is a Korg 01/W and not many would have found how to make that sound on it)!

If it is not me it is a perfect clone of my sound!

All I can say is that Ratty was given pretty much everything we did on dub plate and many were not released, we were just making too many!

Thanks for the reply Ron.

Whoever made it, the sounds are spot on. My immediate thought was that's a Jack Smooth track.

Look forward to hearing your new stuff - keep us posted.

Ron,
Much respect to you btw for coming on board and answering some of our questions, a lot of artists often seem they would be too aloof to do such a thing, but you have been as good to not only show up but talk to us directly. Big up! So, I also have a couple of questions maybe you could answer?

What was going on inside [i:3sew2lzf]your[/i:3sew2lzf] head when you made the tune 'Whats Goin On'? I still can't help myself sometimes having a little laugh about when I think back to that little breakdown and then the vocal line that comes in... absolute quality! :-)

What was the thinking behind the gold label Basement records series? I have my own thoughts regarding that, but thought I'd ask from the horses mouth.

Are you, or were you behind the 2 Da Core releases eg 'Rub A Dub'?

LOL too!

Funny I listened to that one last week and cracked up too. I heard that once someone hit the deck when my voice came on and said "what's goin on inside your head?" - he must have been properly at his peak - he obviously didn't like the answer!

You know those tunes with spoken snippets (done at Sound Entity) were spoken by me - we used to piss ourselves laughing all day!, remember these?

- Everybody's under the influence
- Release the techno
- Smooth but hazzardous
- These are the sounds of house
- ... etc

They were great days for sure, we never took ourselves seriously - R

;)

PS, yes I was behind the 2 Da Core releases.

Yes that is a good one also! I must say, it took me a while to get into the whole Basement sound but now they are some of my very favorites of the genre. More jungle tekno please!

Was this release anything to do with you - [url:3moxuba9]http://www.discogs.com/Structural-Damage-Really-Livin-Loosing-Myself/release/72164[/url:3moxuba9]?

Just wondering because the stabs in the first breakdown sound almost identical to those in Second Rush on the Hedgehog Affair Part 2, and they came out at roughly the same time, but it doesn't appear you had any involvement with Symphony Sound going by their later releases.
