User Preferences help

Post by Fizza » Mon Nov 16, 2015 6:40 pm

Call me stupid, but in the User Control Panel I cannot see any way to change your account settings, specifically the email associated with the account. Can anyone help show me what I cannot see? I'm sure it's blindingly obvious..

I don't think you can change your email- you may have to PM Matt.

You can't, I've no idea why not, I can't find a setting stopping it. To be honest the forum software is getting old now. There's an update, but the templates will break, so I'm trying to decide if I should scrap PHPBB and move to Kunena or scrap the template and move to PHPBB3.2, or just leave it all alone ;)

It should be under UCP > Profile > Edit Account Settings. On a phpBB forum I run, the URL is this:

/ucp.php?i=ucp_profile&mode=reg_details

But it doesn't work on here.

I think it would be best to fix it,or upgrade as you say, if someone were to change ISP and lose access to their registered email and then forget their password they would be pretty SOL, it's not an unreasonable scenario.

I know Facebook etc. is where a lot of things are going/have gone, but there is still a lot of value to having a place where what you post isn't consumer data fodder for the machine. Plus, there's a wealth of history on here that should continue to be built on.

I just had a quick peruse, Kunena looks good, I will be reading a lot more on it myself.

Try again now, for some reason that module had become disabled

ucp.php?i=profile&mode=reg_details
