Following the thread a while back about your collection 'value' I thought it would be interesting for people to post their top 10 most valuable tunes, sorted by median sale price (high to low obviously.) It makes very interesting reading, and is probably tunes that you wouldn't expect. A few of mine are no surprise, but it's amazing that there is a hardcore breaks tune, a recent release, and some random Swedish record in there

Hi,

Can't believe the rpice on that Fastfloors LP, I guess its because it was never fully released.

I had a load of them years ago and found it hard to shift them at £20 each!

Just because some idiot buys a vinyl for 10 times its real value, doesn't make your copy worth 10 times the amount.

Ilsa Gold 3 is now selling for around £30?! It wasn't worth anywhere near that a few years ago, and certainly my copy didn't get anywhere near that amount.

This is a top 10 sorted by median sale price. If you aren't sure what Median is, then you can google it.

You can only value tunes based on what people are prepared to pay, even if it is silly prices !

Yes good point, sorted by Max my top 10 is almost completely different. In fact, more how I imagine it should be! The median counts unusually low sale prices too which affects some averages massively. You would certainly never pick up Paradise Project for £10 these days!

Yeah i'd say its more realistic at Median level. I only have about 50 tunes listed on discogs from my collection, but the top 5-10 were all what i'd expect... Finest Illusion, Tango Project, Ecology, Fantazia EP 1 etc

Think i bought it around the same time as early Hectic tunes, its one that would fit into a crossover set really.

That's because there is NO SUCH THING as the "real value" of a record! It's worth what people will pay for it. So to be fair, an average of what people have actually paid for it is still by definition closer to its value than what some expert "reckons". It's GCSE economics :P

But to be fair, any time I'd looked before for that record it was £20-30.

the Chicago remix of that is still one of the most gloriously demented tunes I own :D
