Noise Factory being cocks
Noise Factory being cocks
Hardscore (http://www.hardscore.com/) have had mixes taken down as Noise Factory complained to the host of the site as some of their tunes featured in mixes featured on the site.
What a petty bunch of cocks. I mean fair play if someone was hosting a 320 clip of one of their tunes, but seriously an old mixtape featuring part of one of their tunes beiing mixed into another tune.
Thoughts?

To laugh or to cry..
How about all those huge cheeky samples that were the basis of pretty much every tune they ever made. I bet they were all legal :---)
Doesn't stop me from loving the tunes though :)

Beyond ridiculous, are they going to chase down every Jock that plays one of their tunes in a club, on the pirates, on the legals or in a bedroom for royalties? Best of luck with that chaps.
Ha! End of discussion

Re: Noise Factory being cocks
Cant quite work out what they will achieve by it, i had 24 mixes removed which ended up suspending the whole mediafire account. :( There wasn't any explanation, all it said was "reason: Noise Factory"
Strange as nearly all NF tracks are still on youtube in their entirety. I searched & couldn't find any official mp3s for sale anywhere, have they got record labels on their backs for the use of samples? who knows.
They used a subscription website called muso .com thats basically making money riding on the back of piracy, the more piracy the more muso makes. even though some old dj mixes shouldn't fall into that category!
Being a big Noise Factory fan, next time i listen to one of their tunes it might sound a bit tainted lol
Hardscore RIP

Fair point, its not as if you are sharing great quality recordings off the original vinyl for people to share. Its just a mix tape, get over themselves.nebkins wrote:Hardscore (http://www.hardscore.com/) have had mixes taken down as Noise Factory complained to the host of the site as some of their tunes featured in mixes featured on the site.

Shit that's a bitch mate. You should really get your own hosting, there's no way I would trust any company like MegaUpload, MediaFire etc with all of my mixes. It's not a matter of whether companies like that will get busted, it's when. At least with your own space you get some comeback.

Re: Noise Factory being cocks
Too funny! I'm sure they paid for the Young Ones and the Good Morning Vietnam samples too right... NOT!
Re: Noise Factory being cocks
I am pretty disgusted by this and I think Noise Factory should come out with an explanation for it all.
The hypocrisy is ridiculous.
We are the only fans left, a minority that haven't forgotten the music and they want to piss us off?!
If they do end up re-releasing mp3s legitimately in the future, there is no way I will be buying them and I hope most of the oldskool community will follow suit.
RIP Hardscore, it was a great resource. I will be avoiding putting Noise Factory tracks on my blog at http://drumtrip.co.uk now.
It really does baffle me when I work out what they are trying to acheive but as extreme says, there is one winner here; muso.
The only people making money from piracy (even though there is no piracy here), they are merely parasites.

i wonder if they (noise factory) are even aware of it. Probably signed up to one of these companies that manages them and looks for copyright infringements (most likely for a fee). But agree, all seems a little petty 20 years down the line. Can't imagine it would impact any future sales of mp3's of their tunes. If anything is a bit of advertising.

Re: Noise Factory being cocks
Ohh and I forgot he did this too:
Human Being "The Box Opened"
http://www.discogs.com/Various-Volume-1/release/147462
Quick, someone tattle and tell Clive Barker!
This guy has some nerve or like Electric Tribe said, someone else is doing it. Either way he needs to knock it off, he's biting the few hands left that still support him. Is he also going to sue Ebay and Discogs for people selling his used records? Used record sales won't make him any money either so if he is that greedy and spiteful that would be the next step.
Now this makes me wonder if I lost niceboots webspace because I had noise factory tunes in my mixes??? Well guess what, I have noise factory tunes in my current mix on soundcloud right now... So if your listening noise factory, go take that shit down too!

For what it's worth Confetti Records, for whom Potential Bad Boy produced house & garage as Chris Mack, are also pretty militant in issuing internet take-downs.

Re: Noise Factory being cocks
Really unfortunate, after reading this on Hardcore I pulled the one NF track I had on my blog (some old Entity release), I could even see people getting weirded out about my blog despite the no full release / no stuff for sale digitally rule, but there's NO EXCUSE getting mad about mixes on Phil's site. Even if you were mad about mixes, Phil's site was hardly the only one sharing them, mixes like that are all over the net. Really it must come down to some crappy company who simply issues takedown notices rather than handling things on a case by case basis.
The insult to injury is that Phil even has a message on his site saying "let me know if you're an artist in one of these mixes and don't want it featured and I'll take it down" or something like that, which is going the extra mile given they're just mixes. Apparently even that wasn't good enough :(
