For me i still love to buy new indie music.. very little else tbh.
My current bands i like are:
Crystal Stilts
Moon Duo
Serena Maneesh
A Place To Bury Strangers
I'd recommend any of those -> but only if ya like indie music :D

tricky question, as it's entirely subjective; what sort of thing do you like?

I usually go to this site, download some bits I've never heard of & see what goodies I can uncover :
http://avaxhome.ws/music
Although you'll undoubtedly also find some crap in there as well, but there is gold to be found.
Can't say there's much 'new' music I listen to.

Don't really follow much new music but for what i know there's at least some good electro coming out every now and then, for instance these guys make great analogue stuff http://www.discogs.com/artist/Morphology
There's been some really good acid releases after 2000 although can't think of many from the past couple years.. this is getting released this or next week, nice sounds on B4..

You'll find good stuff around with a wide taste like yours, but it's probly gonna be buried deep.. That just means dig harder :)

Well, there's a rather FRESH electro double EP that's just been released:safe wrote:old hip hop, electro, drum 'n' bass, jungle, old skool hardcore, old house, garage, 2 step, indie, heavy metal, breaks, reggae, ragga, funk, soul, dubstep, rock, synth, punk. i'm open to most things, just as long as it's not shit.Beagle wrote:tricky question, as it's entirely subjective; what sort of thing do you like?
Also, check out Soundcloud. It's perfect for keeping up with new dance music. For example, Doc Scott uploads a great series of new drum n bass mixes called 'Future Beats'. It's also a great way to hear unreleased new stuff, Future Jungle, J-Tek etc.
Rock wise, not much has floated my boat lately, other than the last Radiohead LP 'King of Limbs'.
Not particularly new, but there was also Thom Yorke's solo LP 'The Erasor'. I liked the last Doves LP 'Kingdom of Rust' too; there's a pretty cool instrumental LP by Holy Fuck too that came out a year or two ago. Also Kasabian, Klaxons; Portishead had a cool album out a coupkle of years back; 'Highly Evolved' by The Vines wasn't bad either.
And if there's any old hip hop / electro you're after, hit me up - I've got shed loads.

Give BBC 6 Music a listen - I've discovered loads of music (old and new) of all types listening to it.

for drum & bass, i'd recommend DJ Hidden. he makes stuff that's pretty techy, but with an emphasis on the atmospherics...some of his tracks have a sort of cinematic feel, almost. nice counterpoint to the beats.
recent promo set of him and Eye-D: http://soundcloud.com/barcoderecordings ... ring-eye-d
My favourite of his tracks at the moment:
It is on the harder side of the d&b spectrum though so it's not for everyone. But a lot more interesting than most of that stuff!
he's also done an album of downtempo / idm as Semiomime that's pretty cool too, from the sounds of it.
i'd echo the point about Soundcloud...also the discogs "Mixes" forum. I've found some great stuff i had no clue about just from there. the beauty of this online age is how much easier it is to take a chance on something new, and how much variety there is. just the other day my mate was playing me some Glaswegian reggae :-D (sadly Glaswegian production, not vocals :()
