The quality surely can't be good enough for printing because the resolution is what it is for DVD. But of course this was just a thought, not necessarily the truth.

The only way to grab images of dvd is probably some dvd/video editing software.

just found out that powerdvd has a capture function, the prints ain't great definition wise but they ain't blocky so it's making me wonder if the weak link is the capture function in powerdvd & not the dvd's resolution :-k

if i can crack this then it'll make my life so much easier!

yep that sort of thing but i'm after something tried & tested cos i've tried a few apps already and the results have hugely varied in quality :?
still not found anything quite good enough but i get the impression that i can get images that'll be good enough to print to A4 size which is all i need as long as i can find something that'll do it!

i'll give that app a try though cos it's been mentioned in another thread i was reading too ;)

Open it in media player classic & use alt/printscreen, only thing is you first have to go into the options & set the playback/output from default renderer to VMR9(renderless). You can now use printscreen to capture frames & paste them into a paint program to trim them, dont know how they will look on being blown up to A4 size though.

Heres a quick pic I took from a bit of a rubbish quality DVD (first one to hand).

Well once u grab the screen, what u really need is a prog which can enlarge the image to a printable size.
Paintshop can do it, but results on enlarging stuff isn't that great for printing.

But this prog is supposed to be extremely good :

you're kind of asking the impossible unfortunately mate, a 300dpi A4 image (which is what it will need to be for proper print quality) is 2480 x 3508 pixels, and a standard non-widescreen DVD is only 576 x 480. so you are basically asking if a DVD screenshot, blown up about 5 times, will look any good. and the answer is no i'm afraid.
