Sam Raimi plans to direct a remake of “Day of The Triffids,” the tale of mobile, literally bloodthirsty plants who start preying on humankind after a meteor shower renders more than 99 percent of the world’s population blind.

It was a mini serie in the eighties as well was it? Saw the remake from last year which was enjoyable but from childhood memory the old version left a big impression.

Is that version available on DVD?

so this is what you do when you're told you're not cool enough to direct spider-man movies anymore.

seriously, i love the whole triffids franchise, but this isn't particularly welcome news. firstly, i think there have been a lot of triffids adaptations already, so one more doesn't particularly excite me, even if raimi is involved. secondly, i guarantee raimi will set it in the states and this will end up with similar qualities (and flaws) to spielberg's 'war of the worlds'. mark my words.

i'm more interested in the upcoming del toro adaptation of 'the mountains of madness'. now that ought to be a bit different.

+2 :) Maybe we'll finally get to see a film that actually does Lovecraft some justice.

The Triffids series from the 80s was great (classic status for me) so i cant see Rami making something im gonna like better...still hoping he can make a cracking action movie take on the series triffidfest in its own right :)

talking of lovecraft then, has anyone seen 'dagon'? i hear it's quite good.

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Dagon-DVD-Ezra- ... _5_rlrssi0

'the shadow over innsmouth' is one of my favourite of the lovecraft tales i've read, so i'm going to have to hunt this film down.
