Sony sucks
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/technology/8594720.stm
That's a bit of a pisser. I've never had the urge to install another O/S, but it was advertised as a feature when I purchased it and now they've decided, after I paid the money, that I can no longer do something with the piece of equipment I own that they said I could.

But you don't *have* to install the update.
Only if you want to go online, play games or BluRay...

Re: Sony sucks
Why? Rendering farms, scientific simulations, many flavours of distributed computing, arsing about with console emulators on Linux, etc...
This move is just a futile kneejerk reaction after a 19 year old cracked the thing and put it on a path to inevitable piracy. This is the same kid who's promised to modify the updated firmware with the Other OS function intact.
Typical Sony bollocks, instead of spending time and resources on a proper fix they throw a paddy and pull the entire feature, shafting legitimate users in the process.

of which none currently exist.Jimee wrote:(apart from the priracy benifits)
Yeah agreed seems to be a knee jerk reaction. I don't care though not a function i use or plan to. Got no interest in pirating games either. Buy, Play, Sell. Most new games only cost me a tenner or so in reality.
Re: Sony sucks
