Hypnotherapy

Post by DJ ABO » Sun Oct 11, 2009 11:42 am

Ez All

I was thinking of seeing a hypnotherapist to help with an anxiety issue I've been suffering with recently.

Anyone else tried it and had any success?

I tried hippo therapy with a few fat birds in MK but that didn't help

Cheers

My mum is seeing a hypnotherapist at the moment for anxiety issues. She's only been 3 times so far out of 6 sessions, but to me she does seem a bit better than she was although I dont think she has noticed any change herself yet. Hopefully it will work though.

Try it mate, worth a go init?

i used hypnotherapy to quit smoking...It deffo works wonders but first you have to open your mind to the suggestion of it otherwise it dosnt work...Most of hynotherapy is mind control and most of that has to come from yourself..Worth a try

Hypnotherapy can work, but in some people it won't, it depends on a few things. Any properly qualified and legit hypnotherapist will expalain that before you part with any cash. So if they don't, then walk away and try a different practitioner.

I hope it works and does the biz for you Abo mate.

:-)

Peace...

A mate of mine does hypnotherapy, neuro-linguistic programming and has just become a personal trainer to boot.

He seems to be doing okay out of it but I can't vouch for his patients.

I suffered with panic attacks for about 6 months 10 odd years ago. Think with them is most of the time it's the fear of getting a panic attack that sets you off. It's a self-control issue (uness you're smoking loads of weed etc) Once I learned how to control my fear (Star Wars quote no.1 lol) i have never had another one since.

I tried it about three weeks ago to give up smoking, to be honest it was a waste of time, i did try and get into it but when he counted me down to be "out"
I just thought this is pathetic. I did take it seriously and try to relax and open the mind but it wouldnt work on me.

Im quite a confident person and direct speaking, so some old bloke rattling on about a beach the sea the smell of fresh flowers etc and going back to my childhood just sounded like a load of rubbish.

thanks lads, I think I'll see how I go over the next few weeks and if no joy give it a go.

@ Beagle, I managed to prevent panic attacks by using the 7 11 technique, breathe in counting till 7 and then breathe out slowly counting till 11, repeat for five to ten mins and you'll be fine, I learnt that when I was studying to be a counsellor.

Just make sure you get a reputable person!
The regulation of hypnotherapists in the UK is so lax that even a cat can become accredited.

Chris Jackson, presenter of Inside Out in the North East and Cumbria, registered his pet cat George with three industry bodies.

Each one accepted a certificate from the non-existent Society of Certified Advanced Mind Therapists as proof of George's credentials.
