A couple of weeks ago I bought myself a Megadrive 2 with 83 games and the proper arcade joystick controlers an I've been absolutely loving it. Been kaning Speedball 2 which is just brilliant! (Really fucking hard though, took me about half an hour of playing it before I won my first match) I don't care what anyone says, 90% of games on new consoles, with all their fancy graphics cannot even come close to the playabillity of old Megadrive and Snes games.

I wouldn't mind getting my hands on a Neo Geo at some point because it's really got the best of both worlds. Pucker graphics and quality old skool platform shootemups. Don't really want to spend £200 odd quid on one though.

Considering I spent over ten years working directly in the videogame industry, it is a bit surprising that I haven't yet owned an Xbox, Wii or PS3 (the Xbox controllers are obnoxiously and clumsily large to the point where that is reason enough not to purchase!).

I haven't seen a great leap in the gameplay/cost ratio that necessitates an upgrade, and I'm teaching my kid the value of content over eyecandy. We regularly play PS2, N64, and the Genesis (SEGA Master System I think it was over there). I have a SNES that I dropped into a toaster years ago but it is lost in the garage at the moment.

I did, however, set up a web port (L.O.G.D.) of an addicting old BBS door game called L.O.R.D. (Legend of the Red Dragon) on my son's website this morning. Once he's had a chance to be the first one to play it I'll post a link. It's a one-turn-a-day type game and loads of fun, and I'm sure he'd be thrilled to get others playing.

Do you know what game im going on about jamie ?

Definetly getting some n64 games tommorow though !

F-zero & top gear rally , £2-£3 each ?

I used to love playing Sinistar in the arcades, fantastic game. The Mame conversion doesn't do it justice.

I was a big fan of Mr Do too, there was this brilliant arcade that me and a few mates used to go to all the time - dark and moody with lots of fantastic games to waste all our money on.

I had loads of PS1 games but they all got nicked when my house was done over and by that point it wasn't possible to replace them. I managed to track down some of my favourites at second hand shops though (FF7, Wipeouts, TempestX, etc.). I never really bothered with Megadrives, Snes, etc.
