Would have to agree there, always been struck by how nice parts of the county are. If I could, I'd retire to a village like Castle Combe. City-wise, London, Barcelona or Amsterdam are all superb.

Place I'd least like to live is probably Leeds. Been there twice and hated it both times.

Tremendously boring nightlife for a pub crawl though, never again

Having lived in some shitholes i think i am pretty qualified to comment on this:

Coventry
Sunderland
Stoke

+ Rugeley (entirely dominated by massive cooling towers)
Middlesbrough
Portsmouth
Hull

I frequent Norwich quite regularly and it's a really nice part of the World. It's got some decent boozers, really old city with a castle in it, good shops and on the outskirts it's pretty scenic too.
I would live there no probs.

Nice places that I know,

Bournemouth - amazing long stretch of beaches, bustling town centre next to main pier & beach, clean, tidy & elegent. Nice parks. Dont know much about nightlife apart from the Opera House which was great when it was a proper club.

Salisbury - charming little town, no pikeys, loads of shops, nice pubs, a great park running alongside the river, old town with cobbled streets, old buildigs etc. The place has kept its old town charm.

Winchester - much like Salisbury but a bit smaller - old town charm, lots of greenery, no pikeys, lots of history, good pubs etc..
