Roller Coasters!

Post by swipezster » Tue Apr 07, 2009 3:29 am

Recently booked my tickets to Drayton Manor Theme Park (& zoo ), as I only live 5 miles away from it now (just moved house), and it got me & my mate talking - he went to look at the American Adventure Park in Derby, and it's been shut since 2006!

Found a site that's dedicated to it (some good comments from ex-staff in the forum), can't remember the link now :-k

Anyways, I got thinking about the Cobra at West Midlands Safari Park when I was a kid, and looked it up on the internet. This is what I came across:

"Sad Loser!" I hear you say? I bet you were on there longer than you thought!

So, just a general roller coaster discussion, my fave of all time is Oblivion at Alton Towers... not the Nemesis, because on the Oblivion, you shit yourself, standard.

My sister reckons The Hulk at Universal Studios is the best coaster ever.

I remember that American Adventure Park - that was really rubbish, probably a good thing its shut down!

I really want to go to Thorpe Park this summer to check out the new saw ride.

Oblivion is probably my favorite, altho I quite liked stelph at Thorpe Park.

Oh yeah, and the pepsi max at Blackpool pleasure beach, just for the view you get from the top before you go down!

the US have the best. In Florida the Hulk and the one at sea world are the best.

I love em !!!!

I went on Nemisis 8 times in a row sat at the front as we had the hotel passes for the exclusive ride time before the park opens to the public. Come the end of it I couldn't stand up.

I chickened out of Oblivion as I don't like things that just drop (like Detonator). Saw looks quite good at Thorpe Park.

I know its far away but X Ride Six Flags Park.....Check this monster out !

Image

It has independent 360 degree spinning seats...so you could be dropping down that track fucking backwards !!

As far as the UK goes, Oblivion always makes me terrified...but then as soon as its over i want to do it again.

Best one in the UK has to be Stealth at Thorpe Park, although i havent been on SAW yet so its open to debate. It looks horrible, and im not great with heights yet i still manage to get myself on these things.

Alton Towers is in serious danger of 'falling off' - they haven't had any new rides for about 5 years (my brother claims its due to planning difficulties - i reckon that they're more interested in the hotel :gay: )
We went to Thorpe Park last year and i was impressed - although slightly dis-concerted by the metal detectors at the entrance......
'Saw' looks like it'll be awesome.

Yeah I've just been to Thorpe Park's website and it's the first time I've seen that Saw - looks well wicked, might even be worth driving down for!

Also, like the saddo I am, I had a look at an aerial view on Google Maps, and to the north of Saw, they're definitely building something else - hope it's not a poxy themed hotel like fucking Alton Towers^^^

I think they aren't able to build anything over the hight of the trees or something stupid, which is why most of the new rides are built in to the ground. It's been obvious over the last few years that Thorpe Park is getting all the big money spent on it now.
