Compo Time! - Zero B / Classified Remix Compo

Post by renegadegenius » Fri Jan 08, 2010 5:06 pm

Okedoky, thought this would be a nice little remix compo to start off the new year :)

I've got a batch of the samples needed, plus of course people can chuck in their own samples of course.

Rules (Please Read)

Compo is for a remix of Zero B - Lock Up / JDS - Classified.
(And anyone not familiar - look on youtube).

Preferably in an 'old skool hardcore style', although jungle / DnB / Electo is all good (no dubstep though please - I can't stand it).

You can use as many of the samples as you like from the pack & feel free to add your own in as well (and of course vsts).

Try to keep the tunes between 4mins minimum & 7mins maximum.

Compo will be until the end of the month, so get in your entries to me via PM only by the end of Jan 31st.
(Any which aren't in mp3 128kbs stereo format will be converted, so send them in this format preferably).

Entry will only be open for people that have got at least 25 posts & have been on the forum since at least the start of this year (Same goes for the voting when that comes into place).

PM me for the samplepack rather than posting on this thread - this will keep the remixers identites a bit more hidden :)
(Although at the end of the compo, all people that have had packs will be mentioned in the thread - so if you grab the pack, make sure you send in an entry ;) ).

Right, let the remixing commence :)

PS - this is also being done over on itsallaboutoldskool (forum), so hopefully we'll get a bigger batch of entries by running it over 2 forums.

Hold on, was it not J3D that submitted an entry to the Belgium hardcore comp, that was made with an external sequencer on a sampler and there was no way he could apply any FX to it?

I remember it got more vote than my entry #-o surly he can submit something....

That track was made and sequenced purely on the Korg M1 workstation
apart from the breakbeat and vocal hook that was done with the Akai 3000xl

I had plenty of fx , compression and so on at the time i had a 24-8 bus Tascam Desk
and Mackie Monitoring speakers the problem was that i had no computer and as my
Dat was fucked i only could record to normal c90 Tape !

Then i lost all the gear altogether.

The speakers in my LCD have Hi stereo imaging as it's only one speaker balanced and
it has no low end "no bass" the speaker is and the back of the LCD and projects the sound down
from the bottom and reflects it of your desk and bounces it towards you because of this there is
no real way of getting a accurate mixdown.

Ive got about 20+ tracks that are all at MixDown stage and untill i get some monitors
so i can hear a accurate version of the mixes then they shall stay on my HD and flashcard
on me synth!

Right, I'm off on holiday until the 6th Feb, so I've pinged RG my entry and hopefully there'll be enough time when I get back to listen to all the mixes and vote for the best ....

Good luck everyone....
