Oldskool relics you own... a hardcore 'Antiques Roadshow'

Post by esq » Thu Mar 29, 2007 10:46 pm

ECLIPSE's thread got me thinking about all the oldskool artifacts out there.

One I've always wanted was Si 2 Bad's 'Wings Of The Apache' remix of the Helicopter Tune (only two exist, his and Grooverider's). I'm not a groupie-type person so I don't have a lot of collectibles. I do have the Underworld record mentioned in the other thread, a 'Trip Harder' testpress from the Hardkiss Brothers, Dieselboy's old Subbase record bag, a Qbert 'tag' sticker I found in SF when he was about 15, and maybe a couple other little pieces of crap I've picked up along the way.

I think rave is old enough to have it's own 'Antiques Roadshow'.

Let's hear what special items you have from BITD that carry special meaning to yourself or the scene in general....

i got a couple of records from clarkee. i sold the best, 'paradise project', to rage. i still have a white label of 'hurt you so' with gum in the grooves on one side. clarkee helpfully scrawled "chewing gum" with an arrow pointing to the offending mark.

Not records or anything but I've got:

Membership cards from Sterns, Brainstorm (Concordes, Salisbury), Enzos and a couple of others.

Still got my white gloves, whistle etc.

well i have alot of stuff really...

lets see... pieces of wall (yes actual brick) from one of the most ground-breaking clubs in South Africa from 1990 - 1995 (Deviate or DV8)

used to always steal something from raves (like anything really: tinsel, posters, "do not drop your pads in the toilet" posters lol)

and i have the original vinyl which he gave and signed for me of DJ Sammy - Heaven that he played down here in Cape Town *hides*

I've got a blueprint of the plans for the World Dance summer solstice in June 96' (I think that was the date) Grabbed it from their old offices. It shows the layout of all the tents & fire routes, etc. I plan to get it framed one day & hang it on the wall, it's quite big. I've also got an old purple ministry of sound water bottle from 94/95. Need to get round my Mums house & have a good root through all my old rave memorabilia :)
