Reinforced box Set

Post by dj jedi » Mon Nov 23, 2015 11:41 am

As usual these things only seem to get announced on Facebook these days, so here's a heads up. not 100% sure what's in the box set yet as it hasn't been announced, but it looks like 5 x 7", 4 x tapes, 2 x slipmatts, and some other stuff.

On sale here on 25th November: http://www.reinforced25.com

Very disappointing that they are 7s not 12s especially the slipmatts.

Shit I didn't even notice the slipmats are 7" too! Yeah I think I'll pass to be honest, I have no use for 7" vinyl. I like to DJ with records, not pose with them.

Hi,

Lots nice, but £85... ouch!

this is the sort of item, nobody opens, just leaves and hopes to sell for £300 in 5 years time...

If it were 12 inch a lot more ppl would buy, the 7 inch gimmick is only really used in the US market...

I think the 7" format, aside from them doing something a little different, might be because Reinforced main guys are serious R+B / Jazz/ Soul / Funk / Rare groove fanatics, and obviously that music is heavily 45-centric (sets full of it, separate bags just to transport em). Could also be just to be doing something different. Now that doesn't mean it makes sense for this music from a dj perspective at all (betting the bass ain't exactly weighty on those 45s) but a lot of people who would want to buy this aren't DJs and, contrary to what other people said about people never playing it and just keeping it sealed, might get a kick out of chucking tiny little reinforced plates on their turntable using the corresponding tiny slipmat.

Kind of on the fence as to whether to grab a copy, too many real DJ records + costs around xmas to sort of flippantly throw what could end up being >100 quid at this.

BTW, it's crazy seeing certain people criticize them for this as if it's nothing but a money ploy (not talking about any of the "not for me" comments here, but stuff I've seen elsewhere and thought I saw before) especially given who's doing the complaining. There's been some real shady ripoffs happening around jungle collecting as of late, but this box set ain't one of em!!
