Legendary rave venues that are still going?

Post by Restless » Sat Sep 26, 2015 9:28 am

Here in B'ham we have The Institute and The Que Club.

The former has gone down the live gig/entertainment route, but Pandemonium are doing a night there in November (they had that place weekly back in the day).

The latter still holds the odd rave, surprisingly! Always seem's to be a "Last event ever at The Q!" every year!

cannot think of many -all the main ones which spring to mind have all been demolished, redeveloped into something else or long term derelict (like some of the old warehouse venues). Can't think of nothing in London.

If only someone bought the Rhythm Station back from its current cheese club status

Went to a "WestFest" there back in 2004 (think it was the first one SV held there).

AMAZING night and venue! Loved it. The Oldskool room was seriously having it.

A car toppled into a ditch, my mate lost his ticket for the journey back, and the journey back was a MISSION.

Immense night, though.

Camden Palace still seems to be around, it's been rebranded but the history section on their website goes all the way back to it opening in 1900.. Apparently it was also a host of 'dance parties' in the 90s lol. No idea if it would be suitable for a 'dance party' these days though.. Also the Rocket seems alive still, but apart from that London venues have definitely been obliterated. Oh, let's not forget Ministry of Sound..

I was working up in Doncaster last week and surprised to see the Warehouse still standing and holding events.

SW1 still going in a different guise.

And the Roller Express in Edmonton still going strong with Elevation and Future Myth raves on a regular basis. (In my fucking dreams!)

Just found an article from The Independent from 93 re Roller Express.

How long did it stay open until?

I think until early 95. It had started going to shit from mid 94 sadly, but what a venue!

I only went there once. Was a decent night. Would have been late 92/early 93 time. I don't remember loads about it but Ratpack where there and played a wicked set.

As I parked my car this morning and it was right in front of me, one came back to me "Stevenage Arts and Leisure Centre" home of United Dance and many other events.

It is (as it was then) a day to day Leisure Centre.

I moved away from Brum in 2003, but I remember their so-called "last ever event" back in 2000 or 2001. Surprisingly they still tout that same line 15 years later!

Peace...
