Q Bass - The Love EP

Post by what evil lurks » Mon Dec 22, 2014 1:28 pm

Yes, this is not by Danny Donnely but another old artist who says that he used this name way before the Suburban Base one.

He made this very rare EP
http://www.discogs.com/Unknown-Artist-T ... se/2149662

(only test press apparently) but what amazes me is that he says that he produced it in 1989!! no way imo, it sounds absolutely 1992, check the youtube links...

What do you think?

Never mind 1992, it sounds like a nu skool breaks production!

That whole story smells like bullshit if you ask me :doubt:

"Not In Love" track... there wasn't really that big fat rave sound until 1991 with T99, Second Phase, MNO, Plexus and such, so they would have predated that idea, which is unlikely.

And "I Feel Alive" samples The Time Frequency's "Real Love" own vocals, which came out in 1992 but was not really known outside of Scotland until mid 1993 when it was a top ten UK chart hit. So impossible to be 1989.

Could be a modern production.

A friend of mine got this record back in 2009, maybe in 2008 on an ebay bundle auction so who knows...never preconceived the idea that it could be a 2000's production though.

It's quite a good idea: make some new "old sounding" rave tracks, press them to vinyl, and rather than sell it as a new release for £7 a copy, pretend it was released in 1992 and drip-feed them for £30 a copy!

Enjoyed the back peddling review. Very entertaining. So guess if was 92 then not the original q bass either.

Why would he say the tracks are out of tune and poorly made if he's attempting to scam people.

To give it an air of "bitd production values" authenticity?

I do think this was released back in 92 and I have no personal ties with this chap either.

Pretty obvious his mind has suffered quite a lot of damage or he's just an ignorant chap whose memory is really fucked.

Havind said all this, if he manages to find a box of them over his mate loft and starts selling them form 30 apiece then I' d consider the "new old tune" theory.
