Hi,

Any news on this, as we're into September now.

You ought to ask them for a part refund, and when they say "no", ask for a discount on your next run of vinyl.

I've never known anyone have to wait this length of time in the past...

Hi gyr8. Not sure if you saw it but we posted an update on Facebook last week.

https://www.facebook.com/drumtrip/posts/828828540468487
FAO everyone who ordered the Unreleased History Of Invisible Man vinyl.

First of all, thank you for your patience. It's been a tremendous wait and we are just as keen to see the vinyl in your hands and on your 1210s as you are.

After speaking to the pressing plant again this week, it appears it may yet be another couple of weeks before the vinyl is ready. The wait is absolutely unprecedented.

In fact as of right now, anyone making new orders to the manufacturer we are using are being told to expect to wait around 7 weeks from the cut to test press stage, and then an additional 7 weeks for the final run.

They're even suggesting people might want to forgo the test press process all together and cut test lacquers instead in order to speed up production!

This is not something affecting a handful of plants, but the entire industry across Europe - as the Independent report: http://www.independent.co.uk/arts-enter ... 95409.html

But, trust us when we say it'll be well worth the wait. Hopefully the PART TWO of the Invisible Man unreleased series won't take quite so long

Cheers

Law, are you dealing with the pressing plant directly? If so, that may be the reason for the long delays. The Klute vinyl I'm doing is being pressed at Optimal in Germany, and no delays there - 10-14 days for TPs, then 10 days for the full run of vinyl after that. Am expecting the TPs to arrive today or tomorrow, which will be under two weeks.

What I am told though is that this is because I'm using Disc Solutions to broker the pressing, who are a long established client of Optimal - for all the existing clients, brokers etc who work a lot with them they guarantee the normal turnaround times. It's just new clients who have to wait for weeks and weeks as the plant is running to capacity with existing clients, who they want to maintain the normal lead times with.

I can't speak for MPO, but that's how it is with Optimal. It may be worth going through a broker or someone who has a pre-existing relationship with a plant if you want to not wait months if you're doing another release in the future?

Hi,

What he said...

The plants cannot afford to lose the custom of their few big agents/brokers, so they prioritise all their stuff first.

I reckon I could get a pressing run completed before this release, even if I sent the agent/broker the files today...

You may want to push them a bit, as it appears they keep fobbing you off.

Trust me, EVERYONE on this forum is behind you mate - we just feel bad for you, as they've mucked you around.

No, we're not dealing with the plant directly. It's via Curved.
All of Curved customers are affected the same.

It's to do with MPO - they seem to be on around a 7-8 week leadtime at the mo!!

I got stung for £120 a couple of months ago for a 'Zombie Experience' & coz I payed on my Debit card I won't get that money back... To be fair I found out it was a fraud a couple of days after I payed :(

So hopefully this is still going ahead?! but nobody's taking into consideration the customers who have trusted them & given over their hard earned...

I'm sure there's been updates on FB.
It's just MPO is so overrun with limited vinyl pressings at the mo, instead of the usual 4 week turnaround, it's at least 8 weeks (from date of him paying for the press).
Problem being due to the lack of vinyl the last so many years, staff and equipment were got rid of, so now there's a rush on it again, they don't have the resources they once had - hence the massive delays.

Depends when he sent them off for pressing.
Most people pressing these days make sure they've got enough pre-orders to cover costs - that could eat up a couple of weeks - plus the 8 weeks for the pressing plant.
