Producers that everybody else likes but you don't

Post by digital delight » Fri Jun 07, 2013 2:48 pm

Following on from the comment I just made in another topic about me not liking the majority of Bay B Kane tunes, who don't you rate as a producer but everybody else seems to love?

Another one I don't like is Ray Keith. Virtually all his tunes back in the day were boring with little variation throughout them as far as I'm concerned. It seemed that once you'd heard the first minute of it, you had pretty much heard the whole tune! Again there were a couple that were ok but the majority just gave me the impression that Mr Keith hadn't got much imagination...

I take it that it wasn't you who recently bought the dub of Flavour Of A Sound for £325 then!

A lot of that 95-96 era DnB - Photek (although there were tunes of his i liked, the Aquarius stuff for example), Source Direct, Hidden Agenda etc.

As for hardcore, i'll have to think. A lot of the tunes between the hardcore and jungle eras didn't do it for me, like a lot of the Bay-B-Kane tunes. Seemed to be break, bassline and not a lot else, without being as fully formed as Jungle/DnB.

I don't really get all the love for Nookie.
I just find his stuff a bit boring... always the same Amen/Think breaks used and often the same riff/melody repeated for the entire tune. Not to say his stuff is bad, but more in the "ok" than "good" category for me.
Gonna Be Alright (and the remix) is a good tune though :)

As above really, didn't really get Photek or Bukem.

This carried on after the hardocre years, chin-stroking liquid DnB is the most pointless music ever IMO.

Some of the moving shadow classic stuff is quite boring imo.
Foul Play remix of lord of the null lines and renegade snares.
Always stuck the tape on fast forward, maybe it's because they were played out?
I do prefer the original of null lines and stuff life feel better remix.

Never really got the hype over satin storm.

As above.......Nookie doesnt do it for me........neither does a lot of the Manix stuff. Granted there's some top Manix tunes but never bother drawing for the majority of his stuff.

Speaking of Manix, I can't think of a single Tek 9 tune I like enough to play. Lots of them are OK, but just average.
