Anyone still use cassette tapes?

Post by caspian » Sun Feb 10, 2013 12:16 am

Just bought an old Honda Accord for £400 and it has a built in stereo sound cassette tape player!

The sound quality of the Status Quo cassette tape left in the player is suprisingly very good and I reckon most of us will have forgoten just how great and convienient cassette tapes actually were, and the younger members on here will be saying 'eh? what's a cassette tape?'

I now so wish I hadn't binned all my old cassettes when i moved house.

And just wondered if there is anyone else on here who is still proper old skool and uses music cassette tapes?

I helped my daughter make a tape of a playlist from her ipod. She thinks tapes are cool. Took a while to find a shop selling blank tapes.

Ive still got tons of tapes, and still recorded on them up until around 2006 ish. Eventually i gave in, and recorded straight onto the comp instead. I do occasionally still use tape for tape rips of rave sets. other than that, its all but dead these days.

Same here, only until about 2006 I started to record straight onto my Mac when I first bought it. Never thrown them away though.

ive never stopped listening to tapes- not one for mp3 rips ipods all that crap= im a traditionalist - i like to have substance t something, by that i mean having something in my hand(not my knob)
love putting a tape in my technics and playing it at full wack on my jamo speakers -
got over 50 tape packs at home and hundreds of single / double packs and still but them now - still use a walkman too!!

Still play daily in the car and they mostly sound bloody great. Enjoy looking at the inlays when l'm in traffic. They're, like smeagol says, substantial and redolent of the era. Mp3 truly symbolise fuck all of any worth

Hi,

Still got hundreds of original cassettes from 88-94ish. Got rid of most of the copies years ago.

Ideally I'll record some to CD.

Got a few DATs from some smaller events and promoters, they'd be good to put onto CD
