What was 5hq like mate? I have always found formation / f project intriguing labels, not much seems to be known about them. I found the shop on street view, the sign is still there :D

Hmmm can't really remember "Rave" records, but one of the oldest 12" I can find that I bought at the time of release is Rebel MC - Street Tuff ;)

New Order - Blue Monday. Swapped it for a golf ball but it only cost me 50p.

5hq was the second shop they had, there was a small shop upstairs in an arcade called SNEAKERS but i only went there a few times b4 they moved to 5HQ, 5HQ was just a cool place to hangout i used to be in there about 4 times a week for hours at a time.

It was set back from the street down a corridor that you turned right at the end and down a few steps into the shop, always loads of carracters in there and wicked vibes, used to chat to all the djs/producers make a nuisence of myself lol i'm still good friends with yorkie aka mastersafe and leroy aka SS now.

Some friends of mine took the place over about a year back and have got all the old studios running again upstairs its sort of a community project where they teach people to produce etc
Downstairs in the shop it's a sort of gallery and they sell graff paint etc so although it's not 5HQ anymore at least its back open and still doing interesting things rather than ending up as a tesco or something!!

Nice one Sam that was really interesting, that's great that it lives on!

Does mastersafe still produce now? I have a vague recollection of him doing UK Garage when that scene was around, could be mistaken though.
