B2VOS - TOP 5
B2VOS - TOP 5
Hi,
After going through all the top 10's you guys did, I've finally got around to sorting this...
There were 5 tracks that appeared on MORE top 10's than any other tracks:
In no particular order:-
Skanna - This Way
DJ Krome & Mr Time - This Sound Is For The Underground
Neuromancer - Pennywise
Wax Doctor - A New Direction
3 Thieves & A Liar - I Get A Chill
Great to see a Basement Records classic in there, weird to see "I Get A Chill"...
Thoughts people?

Re: B2VOS - TOP 5
That's good news, I've got all of them!
This Way and I get a chill would struggle to make it into my top 100 I think, even though they are good tunes there are so many others I prefer. Can't argue with the other 3 though, stone cold classics. In my older age I seem to play Manic Stampede more than This Sound though.
New Direction is a classic in the same way Energy Flash is in my opinion, a monumental track.
Pennywise is just incredible, a thing of beauty.

Hi,
I agree, the Skanna track 'shouldn't' be in the top 5, but obviously its become a 'cult' track, and a true B2VOS fave.
I also don't rate "I Get A Chill", in fact, I never even played it out, just don't like it...
Surprised there was no Acen, Nookie, etc

i get a chill and in the house are top tracks and would be in my top 100 but i wouldnt say top 5
i think this top 5 more summarises a more 'fed up with edge 1 crowd'

I guess its because this is a B2VOS top 5, so thats means more 'darkside' lovers.
Recently, all repress talk has been about darkside and jungle tekno
Re: B2VOS - TOP 5
If we're talking the whole EP overall then it is definitely a good one, I really like in the house. You bring me joy is a belter too! I do like I get a chill but I never had that top buzz obsession set so havent grown up loving it like some!phil wrote:i get a chill and in the house are top tracks and would be in my top 100 but i wouldnt say top 5

I think so many tunes have been played to death they don't appeal as much anymore.smeagol wrote:surprisingly no piano tunes in that list- must be one piano tune in top 5 ,

"You Bring Me Joy" is so much better than "I Get A Chill", It has that rolling break sound that few hardcore tracks have not choppy at all, very underrated.
As for My Way, even though it doesn't fit, you can't underestimate how well written it is.
In fact its almost Emotion Hardcore it has something extra about it, rather than samples of vocals talking about Love or Drugs, its really been written from someone who has a talent for music, Nookie's - Mindbomb is another that sticks to mind, the Piano is Hauntinly beautiful. (If thats even a word :-))

Re: B2VOS - TOP 5
Pennywise and New Direction are definite top 5s for me. I'm not surprised to see those in the list as I've met very few people over the years who don't rate those. This Sound is also a very good track and no doubt holds a lot of memories for people given how popular it was.
I Get A Chill is a good tune but definitely surprising to see it in this list.
Not sure I've ever heard This Way, will have to give it a listen.
*edit* Yes, I do know it. Good track but again a bit of a surprise.

Re: B2VOS - TOP 5
well i fucking love I Get A Chill.
one of my favourite tunes for sure. it just has something about it (for me, obviously!) - it's in the same style as a lot of anthemy tunes, would fit with lots of pianoey stuff - but it at the same time is a bit different. but then it's always hard to explain why a particular tune is special to you :D
I will say though that the last time i looked at that feature on discogs which tells you how much your collection is worth, by actual sales data, that I Get A Chill was in the top few for mine. Now I don't have a collection full of super rarities but it does seem pretty sought after.
Wasn't it a big Top Buzz tune?
As for the others, This Sound in particular, makes sense, not many anthems still have appeal to oldskool heads of different persuasions. but i think it does.
I haven't even heard that Skanna tune...

Re: B2VOS - TOP 5
may be controvercial but i think i get a chill would be a better tune without the vocal - it is defo a top tune and i play it a lot so im not knocking it at all
