White House Records appreciation....
Finally got hold of this last week:
Calling All The People - The Best Of Whitehouse Records (3x CD)
http://www.discogs.com/Various-Calling- ... ase/144895
And it made me realise just how good a label this was. So many different
styles, so many good releases and such variety too. Brilliant label, does
anyone know who was behind it, or any more info?

One of my favourites as well, one of the best labels around circa 93-94. Like you say a comprehensive selection of styles with Bizzy B darkness, nutty acid shit from Dragonfly, straight up jungle care of Remarc and everything in between.
This early release has always been in my 1991 bag, an underrated gem... admittedly with below par production: Loa Vibe EP, done by one half of Warped Kore: http://www.discogs.com/Loa-Vibe-Climax-EP/release/74759

Whitehouse top 5...
1 Skanna - Intimidator
2 Tamsin & The Monk - A Better Place (Trace Remix)
3 In Perfection - Expression (Fear Mix)
4 Bay B Kane - Nowhere
5 The copies of Whitehouse magazine that I found under my Dad's bed when I was 12 (possibly not affiliated to the record label).

White House was the label from Mo's Distribution i think. That may have helped them grab tracks off the best producers of the day (Criminal Minds, Bay B Kane, Bizzy B, Skanna etc).

Definitely, but only if it doesn't literally blow the cones out of your bass speakers when
that bassline comes in. That is the only tune ever that makes the self-protect thing come
on in the Bose system in my car

Haha init, that tune is dangerous. I managed to fry three out of four bass bins my mate had just finished building for his rig at a squat party last year with it.

Didn't the original release of Rood Project's "Thunder" actually have a disclaimer about speaker damage on the sleeve?fannypad wrote:will2003 wrote:aize1 wrote: Especially like Dragonfly 'Libra Ep' for 'We have to live (in the future)' SICK Record!

This was always a favourite of mine:

This came out at an amazing time, so many tunes and so many anthems.

Yeah it was Mo's labelnebkins wrote:White House was the label from Mo's Distribution i think. That may have helped them grab tracks off the best producers of the day (Criminal Minds, Bay B Kane, Bizzy B, Skanna etc).
Few of my mates back then worked at MO's, i had a account down there so rarely bought records from shops, i was allowed to just pick and choose what i wanted from the warehouse in Walthamstow and paid the same price the shops paid. Sometimes my mate would arrange for the van drivers to stop off at my house so i could pick off the back of the vans.I wish i knew then what i know now there was so many tunes due to come out on whitehouse that never materialised due to one thing or another.
Good times Big up all the MO's crew.. MO, Twiss , Si, Dionne, Lee, Roger and the handbag twins.

Re: White House Records appreciation....
4-Mega - 'Drop This' was one of the first less mainstream Hardcore tunes i bought back in 1992.
Wandered into 'Underground Connection' in Colchester, being slightly naive I wasn't sure what the dude in the shop meant when he asked me if i wanted to listen to it first,
got confused and just blindly bought it.
Happy days.

The first 10 releases for me... i don't really like the '93+ stuff.
The early releases are outstanding though.

Re: White House Records appreciation....
all about the promo of In perfection - expression - still on the wants list, and I feel it will be for quite some time :/
Re: White House Records appreciation....
seems to me one of the best labels regardless of what end of the hardcore/jungle spectrum you fit in. for just the bay b kane and ellis dee alone it gets three thumbs up from me.
