I know Mike Wells pretty well, a really nice chap and made some very good tunes... same surname but not related.

There seem to be a lot of unrelated "Wells" in the business!

Great thread!

My all time fav is Rabbit City 006 - VNE (Thief Of Minds Mix) - an outstanding track
..and that bass drop at 2:42 ... jeez!

true! always thought it was mad enough that Force Mass Motion and Technohead shared a name.

my favourite is probably now Jack of Diamonds, and as mentioned Phase Lock. and the remix of VNE. But this one also:

his stuff fits a really small niche for me: that 92-94 sound that had the 4/4 kickdrum and other elements of techno, but was still full of hardcore rave. like the slightly more "fun" (for want of a better term) counterpart to the 4/4 jungle techno sound, with more stabs and other hardcore elements. i absolutely love it, but it's hard to find. or even describe - "hardcore techno" seems to be for much more hard-edged stuff which it isn't really. but yeah all his 92-94 releases pretty much, spot on.

Would love to have heard what you guys would have come up with if you'd collaborated on a tune together

Yeh, we probably would have, but I didn't speak with him until around 95/6 (I was introduced to him by my old mate Marvin Beaver of Danse City / Dylan Rhymes).
