Re: Discogs preventing the sale of certain tunes...

Never could bring myself to buy that record, I know the Buju song was quite popular at the time and there's a good chance the kids banging these kinda tunes together had no clue / figured it was just another catchy popular ragga vocal to swipe. But it's not just saying some mildly ignorant or racey ...

Re: Discogs seller discogsgav

re I would have liked to have bought that remastered Skanna record pack that I just saw but somehow, I'll deal with not having it just like I always did before it even existed. http://keepingvinylalive.bigcartel.com Will is easily one of the top most trustworthy people I've EVER bought records from...

Re: Discogs seller discogsgav

:O Bought RedRum vol 2 off him a couple weeks ago... has only been 2 weeks and I live in the states so even if he did send right away it's understandable it didn't show up yet. dropping an email / don't want to write it off altogether.

Re: Do you still go record shopping?

I'm with you guys, really miss doing this, still do it around here even though I rarely find good stuff (Boston is too small and most people who would sell know about ebay/discogs) Funny Bunter mentioned Alans in Finchley, I tried going there on my last UK trip... hauled a heavy bag already full to ...

Re: Fixate -throwback therapy

I'm sure this gets a good reaction from dnb crowds, the elements are all basic instantly likeable stuff (landlord line swiped wholesale, think break, that rock the funky beats vocal). Hard to get excited about for anyone who has heard those elements ad-nauseum for the past 10-25 years or so, especia...

Re: What do people look for in oldskool mixes these days?

I guess the pitching thing is personal preference too, I'm fine with stuff getting pitched extremely as long as it's going UP rather than down (unless it's say, a track pressed at 45 being played at 33 -8 or something making it feel halftime) and as long as it's just fun oldskool and not tracks purp...

Re: What do people look for in oldskool mixes these days?

that's funny about the FREE DOWNLOAD thing on mixes. Yeah at this point you practically have to pay people to download mixes, makinga big deal out of them being free is a lolz. I guess I don't get the "historical accuracy" thing as much myself, well I do but only in the context of sonic coherence. L...

Re: What do people look for in oldskool mixes these days?

Oh yeah, I don't expect them to use any fancy CDJ features, I just mean it'd be easier to kick a producer a bunch of mp3s/flacs/wavs of tracks they could play on CDJs than, say, get them back the actual records they used to play (which would be ridiculous on any number number of levels). w/ the digi...

Re: What do people look for in oldskool mixes these days?

Still would go see Ratty any day of the week, some of my favorite oldskool sets if not as varied and crazy as old days. I'm not much of an mp3 / wav collector, but I've been thinking it'd be cool to accumulate / rip digis of certain "signature" tracks to eventually send back to certain original DJs ...
