Re: Discogs preventing the sale of certain tunes...

maybe another way to put it is: to find the incitement in Eminem's lyrics relies on a particular interpretation. whereas this record in particular, surely there's only one interpretation? but anyway, really it doesn't matter how grey any of this is, because it's only Discogs's take on it that matter...

Re: Every genre, ever

yeah i think dance music wise, anything ending in -step or -core covers over 50% at least

And I have genuinely heard the term "corestep" although I don't think it's really stuck.

If you have doorstep then I think doorcore is inevitably next.

Re: Every genre, ever

well, i mean 25 years ago it was just rave music - but then there wasn't also the breadth of music there is now. if you saw "rave music" on a flyer now - that could mean any number of different things, of wildly different tempo, style, vibe etc. you need more names because there's more music to diff...

Re: Discogs preventing the sale of certain tunes...

How about this line from the same album: “My words are like a dagger with a jagged edge / And I’ll stab you in the head, whether you’re a fag or les / A homosex, hermaph, or a trans-a-ves / Pants or dress? Hate fags? The answer’s yes." Does that satisfy your criteria? And besides, couldn't it be ar...

Re: Discogs preventing the sale of certain tunes...

to try to answer those questions: what is the point at which you would draw the line? as mentioned: the line they are drawing is music which aims to "incite violent hatred against groups of people based on areas such as their ethnic, cultural, religious or sexual identity". To me there's a differenc...

Re: Discogs preventing the sale of certain tunes...

Comparing musical taste and 'choice' of sexuality is exactly the problem with this record, and why it should be banned. There's nothing high and mighty or subjective about it, in the 21st century this kind of stuff is unacceptable[/b]. Nah, it's still your opinion. Other people will have a differen...

Re: Discogs preventing the sale of certain tunes...

exactly. i mean in the UK if you published an article in a magazine arguing the same point it would be hate speech. i don't think it is a slippery slope though - i think the policy makes it quite clear (there's a big difference between - to take a hypothetical example - a song praising Satan and a s...

new hardcore (breaks) remix of Hijack - Style Wars

https://soundcloud.com/stay-on-target/hijack-style-wars-stormski-hardcore-mix related to that repress Kickstarter thing, one of their imminent releases i think. love the old Hijack tunes anyway - definite proto-hardcore in places. and this new remix is better than i was expecting when i saw "hardcor...

Re: Discogs preventing the sale of certain tunes...

i think it is kinda fair enough for Discogs to have a code, and it's up to them to decide where the line is. it's a private site open to the public after all, not a public service. i mean i guess you could argue this isn't enjoyed in the same way that Skrewdriver is. although it still seems weird to...

Re: Tom & Jerry back catalogue

well new jungle's been around since the early 2000s. What the bleedin hell is 'new jungle', is that something else Tony Blair is responsible for? ;-) oh i literally just meant jungle produced after the original incarnation of the scene, not as a new genre. thankfully Tony Blair has not yet been inv...

Re: Tom & Jerry back catalogue

I wonder whether this Jungle hype is here to stay or whether it will pass. Not that it's a bad thing of course, good that the younger generation are getting in on things and continuing to push it forward! well new jungle's been around since the early 2000s really - with all the US and Canadian arti...

Re: Every genre, ever

haha one of the first things i noticed was "deep happy hardcore". that's brilliant  (going by the clip it's the style that be called freeform by the people into it. and "christian dance"? that hadn't ever occurred to me before.i've certainly heard satanic dance music, but not christian....i...
