Re: Have a listen

Couldn't hear past all the twinkly sparkles, does his mum know he's got a nuclear control desk in his bedroom?

Uninspiring, lowest common denominator tunes.

Re: Mephedrone sites

Personally I had a bit of a shit one tbh. My musical tastes are a lot harder/ravier than the music being played. All seemed a bit too clean for me. Also i got a bit too fucked on the friday an had a fairly bad dose of paranoia on saturday which didn't do much for my mood. I went with quite a ...

Re: FAO Mac heads

Don't mean to be rude but did you read anything I wrote in the last post?

The native Snow Leopard NTFS driver is the first thing I came across when looking for a solution... Apple have disabled it by default for a reason, most that tried it have got data corruption to some extent.

Re: Wireless keyboard/mouse recommendations

If money's no object I'd say Apple bluetooth keyboard and mighty mouse, but they're bluetooth-only and I resent spending £110 on mine... Next best is the Logitech Cordless Desktop S 530, I've supplied this kit with a few macs I've built and whilst nowhere near Apple quality they're solid, the mouse...

Re: FAO Mac heads

64-bit booting isn't enabled by default... What you've posted only applies to Apple machines. As mentioned, I'm using a PC booting Snow Leopard via the Chameleon bootloader on the EFI partition, not a real Mac. Chameleon emulates a 64-bit EFI. All the major recent builds of Chameleon boot using the...

Re: One for the Mac owners/users

That much quieter? My Quad Core tower is very nearly silent. Can only hear it if my ear is right up against the case. That's what I used to think until I started building silent systems to order and using one on a daily basis. Don't get me wrong, the Intel-based Mac towers are quiet compared to you...

Re: FAO Mac heads

Read above; I'm running Snow Leopard on a Core i7-based PC, booting the 64-bit kernel by default, no special boot.plist keys required. I also see Macfuse errors in verbose mode but they don't make any difference to boot time, cold boot to desktop takes less than 20 seconds regardless of what's insta...

Re: FAO Mac heads

I'm using Macfuse at the moment, but as you say it's not a 64-bit library so I need to reboot in 32-bit mode to be able to write to NTFS volumes, which is long.

Snow Leopard's been out nearly 6 months, surely there's some way of getting reliable NTFS r/w support on the 64-bit kernel?

Re: Getting an extra Windows 7 key from Microsoft...

Microsoft are known for doing this, I've got a few XP activation codes off them without a mention of the original license key, along with a few free wireless mice worth £35 each at the time after I called up to get a broken one replaced and they just sent me a new one without asking for the origina...

Re: One for the Mac owners/users

Or if you're up for arsing about with it you can build a fake Mac for much less. I've just made myself a Core i7 860 system running at 3.5GHz with 8GB RAM and 2x1TB hard drives, running 10.6.2 64-bit kernel with Intel Speedstep and Turbo mode enabled. Cost a fifth of the price and getting better Gee...

Re: FAO Mac heads

Anyone know of an NTFS-3G equivalent for Snow Leopard running the 64-bit kernel? I've just built myself a fake Mac with a Core i7 860 and 8GB RAM, booting the 64-bit kernel. Having to use kludges to get flaky NTFS write support as none of the NTFS solutions seems to be 64-bit yet... As a side note, ...

Re: How fussy are you about the condition of the ....

Haha, Gyr8 you're a man after my own heart. I've ended up with doubles of almost all the tunes I play out regularly, some of which I've decanted into plain card sleeves so the originals don't get decimated at squat parties. Takes a load of your mind knowing you'll still have the contents of your bag...
