Re: What other genre has come the closest ....

Hardcore Breaks does it for me at the moment.
In terms of lifelong commitment and passion definitely progressive house/trance from the early 90s through to about 2002 when it all went a bit crap.

Re: Hardcore Uproar 2009

Thing is, they have the makings of a great remix there, and could have kept it in a contemporary style. I actually really like house in general, its just this business in every tune at the moment with having a massive build and then a completely boring minimal drop, it drives me mad!

Re: Hardcore Uproar 2009

Had a listen on Beatport and was a bit disappointed tbh. All the mixes have good bits but are ruined by overly minimal electro house sections. The usual thing of a nice breakdown, bring in the melody, build it up to what should be a huge drop and instead you get a stripped down beat with out of tune...

Re: The Bbc Film Loved Up Music Question

Had forgotten how much I love this tune! Cant agree that the rest of their stuff was shit though - imo almost all of leftism was absolute quality See if you can pick up backlog, it's not the easiest CD to find, but its their definitive work IMO http://www.discogs.com/Leftfield-Backlog/release/43954...

Ableton Live.

All the power of Cubase/Logic etc but extremely easy to pick up and start playing with. Just run through the inbuilt tutorial and you're away!

Re: Breakbeat ?

After that i think a few producers started to veer towards house whilst others veered towards stupid 'jump up' style tracks and others started making cheesy 'funky' tracks. Haha, thats an absolutely spot on analysis of the current breaks scene really  I quite like some of the housey stuff, but...
