Re: Rep your mixer history!

I had the obligatory GM25 as my first mixer, then a Soundlab DSM-15 briefly and then a Citronic MSX1: http://www.dolphinmusic.co.uk/shop_image/product/1840-citronic-msx-1-large.jpg And I still have it - although its been in the loft with my decks for 5 years. Not really had any issues with it outsid...

Re: For everyone asking about Vibe Tribe test pressings...

Hi, Was only trying to help guys... I cannot move forward on the SBS mix, as although it is a remix, and even if SBS is cool with it, the rights to the track are still held with the portion of London 90, that was sold. The problem really is that when EMI publishing were buying up everything to buil...

Re: game changer sets

I don't think you can heap so much praise on a DJ as them having changed the game... it's the originators of the music that create sounds for others to take inspiration from and thus evolve into new genres, it is not people who open record bags. "it's rather easier put on a car show than it is to d...

Re: game changer sets

I really don't see how people consider Ratty as an innovator - I get that this forum idolises him, but that doesn't make it right. Also, he seems to be idolised by you guys now, but BITD it was a much smaller proportion of people who were his avid fans. Because (to paraphrase you in the other 'game...

Re: Game Changers: Goldie 'Terminator'

Hi, May be think about other genre's then it might be easier to try pick examples from our scene? Examples: Nirvana My Bloody Valentine Arctic Monkeys Pixies Kraftwerk Out of all of them I only see Kraftwerk as 'revolutionary'. Can't see what the others brought to the table that was so out there ????

Re: game changer sets

Aside from Gyr8's fantasy's, i'd say a 'game-changing' DJ set in any form of music is pretty hard to come by (as your playing someone else's music)- unless the DJ is playing tunes or a genre never heard anywhere before. Maybe some of the really early acid house sets in this country? You're more like...

Re: game changer sets

Fixed for accuracy: Hi, Was actually considering doing an imaginary 'dubplate only' set for Jimmy's Farm this summer. Grooverider mentioned, "you got a lot of rare tunes..." and it made me think... Only problem is accessing my imaginary secret underground nuclear bunker, programming a set with the r...

Re: game changer sets

DJ Gyr8's dubplate only set from 1992 performed on 4 decks from atop Blackpool Tower- featuring an unreleased mix of 'Valley Of The Shadows' (hand delivered by Andy C before he'd even written it), 'Sweet Harmony' (Slightly different piano mix) and a never released Prodigy track on a floppy disk that...

Now I know how all those 'old' ravers felt in 92 listening to all the hardcore rip offs of acid house tracks.

Re: strong pills

I don't have an issue with anyone still wanting to drop pills: I think for people to pass judgement just because they've knocked it on the head is the height of hypocrisy to be honest. I haven't done one for 5 years - but I still have a cheeky one stashed away in my record box for prosperity...I wou...
