JD-800 had loads of atmospheric pad/string patches also a few years later the Korg Trinity there is lots of akai cd's that have those type of samples "Best Service Dance Mega Jungle/Rave" has most of those sounds used by peshay , bukem ect.. if your after a new module i would recommend the Roland XV...

if you want that exact original whoomph then get a 12-bit akai and a analog desk.
you can also use a bleep tone at - octave for low end wobble.

there is a feature on some synths called chord memory
or you can just draw the midi notes in by hand on the sequencer
and most note based sequencers have a piano roll screen that you can select different chords
