Could be Windows libraries screwed - insert your XP cd and in a dos box type sfc /scannow
This will fix the OS, then try something like revo uninstaller to completely remove itunes and then re-install.

I've had 'N' since it came out ('pre-n') and with a compatible 'N' adaptor (best to go for the same manufacturer) I've gotten over 100Mbps speeds 1 floor up and get full G speed 2 floors up (as I'm using a 'g' adaptor in the attic).
