Could be Windows libraries screwed - insert your XP cd and in a dos box type sfc /scannow
This will fix the OS, then try something like revo uninstaller to completely remove itunes and then re-install.

I've had 'N' since it came out ('pre-n') and with a compatible 'N' adaptor (best to go for the same manufacturer) I've gotten over 100Mbps speeds 1 floor up and get full G speed 2 floors up (as I'm using a 'g' adaptor in the attic). You can try finding an open UK proxy server, or run a proxy server on a PC in the uk and connect via that (you'll get buffering due to crap upload speeds)

Or if your prepared to pay around 5-6 quid you can go via a commercial VPN provider

I must say, having to reach down and press an eject button on my PC's drive DOES seem a tad old-fashioned...not to mention having to open the door on the front first! :-D You can right click on your cd icon and 'eject' if you really want to - I think you should have a choice though, although linux/...
