Re: Great tunes/remixes that SS managed to ruin with a...
yeah, alot of early to mid ear Formation stuff ( don't mention anything after about 2000, a serious fall off!) had questionable elements in them but that's what made them so special. They helped give the tunes their own particular Midlands sound, very different from what was coming out of london or ...

And afaik Derrick May and Kms always credited Cybotron as being massively important.

Re: An answer i had from Jack Smooth..
edit: just to clarify, i'm explicitly talking about US club music scene during 1983, 84 & 85. I think of 85 as the year that techno really started with the release of no ufos. I don't think anyone will ever be able to convince me that Kraftwerk are not the inventors of both electro and techno... Ju...

Re: RIP Diane Charlemagne
Listened to the Angel EP on Synthetic last night, it's quite staggering how ahead of its time the Headz sound was in 1993, there's nothing else like it https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UTQgHzmrxb0 Absolutely, this and the Internal Affairs EP really pushed the boat out. RIP to an awesome vocalist. Ve...

Re: most irritating 'anthem'?
Subsequently alot of the anthems from that period annoy me, smd 3, slammin vinyl - in effect for instance. In Effect is one of my favourite ever hardcore tunes, maybe even THE favourite. I could listen to it every day and never get fed up of it I loved it at the time but just got played way too muc...

Re: most irritating 'anthem'?
Sweet Harmony was the only one to really get on my tits pre 94. Subsequently alot of the anthems from that period annoy me, smd 3, slammin vinyl - in effect for instance. Most of the jungle anthems from summer 94 onwards irritated me massively. Stuff like demolition man -fire, the license, worries i...

Well worth a listen. Always been really interested in the Spirals and surprised to hear them so chilled and down to earth after all they've been through.

Re: When the split happened...
Vinylgroover - Awesome DJ, IMO. There's a "Hardcore Uproar" set of his from '97/'98 and it's my favourite Hardcore set of all time. Great energy, track selection and mixing. Which set is this? I have a Vinylgroover dreamscape from 94 which is really different to what everyone else was doing at the ...

Re: When the split happened...
In 94 I followed a few different paths as I still loved everything connected with dance music. I followed the split both sides for a year or so, until the breakbeats started disappearing and the cheese quotient became too much in the hardcore scene and the amens and ragga got too much in the jungle ...

And the Roller Express in Edmonton still going strong with Elevation and Future Myth raves on a regular basis. (In my fcuking dreams!) Re: Legendary rave venues that are still going?
I was working up in Doncaster last week and surprised to see the Warehouse still standing and holding events.
SW1 still going in a different guise.
And the Roller Express in Edmonton still going strong with Elevation and Future Myth raves on a regular basis. (In my fucking dreams!)
