Re: Any goals (musically) for next year?

Get some decks, to replace the ones I sold in 2004. Record a vinyl mix, for the first time since 1996! Can't wait. This sounds so familiar! Exactly what I did a year or so ago. While I miss my Technics I sold (and refuse to pay top dollar for crappy beat up used ones)- Audio Technica ATLP120 USB's ...

Re: Any goals (musically) for next year?

Oh I forgot about actual records. That's a good goal to have nebkins and sort of do-able! In that case Tom & Jerry 2 (the only one I need) and the Silver Fox EP would make my year.

Re: The state of DJ'ing nowadays...

Agree with Badonde there^ A little push or shift takes the listener off autopilot into the realization there is an actual person doing the work. My old DJ mate who's gone totally digital made fun of me for posting my last mix on soundcloud, saying "I heard you're slip up there it wasn't tight" I'm l...

Re: Any goals (musically) for next year?

Fucking finally will be done with school (which is the equivalent to having 5 jobs at once and at the age of 47 is not fun) so hopefully more time to do mixes, maybe do a internet show, finally start working on making tunes (the DREAM!)? I probably have a better chance of winning the lottery than al...

He ruined Babylon on Deejay for me. It's unlistenable clown music IMO.

Re: The state of DJ'ing nowadays...

With vinyl it's all just training your ear to instantly know what is off pitch wise (if anything) and instantly knowing how to correct it. How you do this is all a matter of personal preference. I do a little of both (touch vinyl and adjust pitch). Trick is really just to have it synched right to be...

Re: The state of DJ'ing nowadays...

Is that what these young whippersnappers are doing these days with their auto sync? Back in the day we had to walk 10 miles in the snow with a 100 pound record case strapped to our back through airport security to get to the gig- and hope the turntables functioned properly! These damn kids don't kno...

Re: Jack Smooth interview

Good read. My feelings on the whole dubplate culture thing are exactly the same, back then and still today. It's an absolute ridiculous practice that serves no one except DJ's with inflated egos. GET THE MUSIC OUT -always always always. I understand testing it out to see reactions, and getting audie...

Re: currency exchange affecting sales

Honestly I really hate the pound sterling- us dollar exchange rate. It's not as bad as it used to be but combine it with the exorbitant Royal Postage rates (not the sellers fault really) and I often will seek out German sellers who price in Euro (much better conversion rate) and for some reason offe...

Re: Photek/Truper Box Set from Basement

Fair enough but last email I got was August 14th and it said Basement should receive them 7-10 days and then they would ship. That was 27 days ago and it's probably the Sept. 11th now over there in the UK so 28 days. That's just about a month without an update. I get that things can get backed up bu...

Re: Photek/Truper Box Set from Basement

This is getting a bit ridiculous with the wait for this set! I mean I understand pressing plant issues you have no control over but the set is over a month overdue now. We all forked over a ton of cash for these and no updates for a month? Come on that's just poor form.

Re: Basement Records Represses from a few years back

Ahh I was wondering about those Basement represses?! I use to own some of the originals but sold many of them and when I got back into mixing bought some of the represses and they sounded awful. I'm hoping the Truper set doesn't suffer the same fate- and still waiting on that btw. No don't worry th...
