Rave Anthems Review

Disc 1 "Hands in the Air"
Starts off with the reworking of a chicago house classic, all be it a shortened mix - Featuring the 3 note appegiator that all well know - You Got The Love by The Source and featuring the vocal talents of Candi Staton, following on we have the commercial uplifting Everybodys Free - Rozalla - and N-Trance Set You Free. next, the vocally recognisable and much sampled Break of Dawn by Rhythm on the loose, followed by the classic piano / vocal rave track Dont Go by Awesome 3 featuring Julie McDermott on vocals. Chart Hit Insanity by Oceanic from '91 is the next track, conversly followed by a house classic from '87 with 808's and 909's in abundance from Jack 'n Chill. A frankly awefull piece of cheesy post rave follows on with track 8 Only you - Talizman AVOID! A Couple of vocal tunes next with  Dance with me (I'm your extacy) - Control and Good life (Midnight mix) - Debbie Malone. Not the best mix of Debbie Malone tune though.

Disc 2 "Top One, Nice One, Sorted."
Begins with the post rave chart, drug related smash - Ebeneezer Goode and continues with a couple of hip hop / hip house driven tracks - Chad Jackson - Hear the Drummer Get Wicked and King Bee - Back by Dope Demand. SL2 (Slipmatt and Lime) on their ragga tip is track 4 on this cd. Some classic vocal house follows with True Faith's Take Me Away from '89. The slightly more underground sounding 808 State with Cubik with some nice pong sounds continue with track 6. Straight out of Top of the Pops with their masks and radiation suits - Altern8 Infiltr8 202. Bizarre Inc "Got to get up" playing with knives track8. Track 9 is Congress with 40 Miles, which has some nice vocals that are poorly sung, very similar to SMD (SLIPMATT DUBZ) Last tune on this cd is a trumpet led house track Mother - All funked up.

Disc 3 "Oldskool Hardcore"
Starting with the best and most underground track on the CD - Johnny L - Hurt you So. Back to the charts we go with Praga Khan and that mad couple (Lipmaster Mark and Everson Allen) Known as the RatPack. "Names not down your not coming in" Bouncer follows on. Track 5 is different as to that which is advertised. It is in fact Burnin' Up by Cloud 9 on Moving Shadow not 2 Bad Mice - Bombscare as shown. Quadrophonia's self titled track is number 6, which is also a strange shortened version. Electro dance is on the cards for Report to the Dancefloor by Energise. Cheesy cartoon "popcore" Urban Hype with their Trip to Trumpton is track 8. The 4 notes that make up the bass / lead line make the next track instantly recognisable - 4 Hero Mr Kirk. The CD set is finished off with the art of noise
progessing into piano hardcore sounding Rave Nation - Stand Up.

Overall a fairly commercial dip into what was "rave" most tunes on these cd's wernt played out at events, the were mostly chart rave hits. Well presented box set though and at a fairly cheap price.
