terrible tune, but anyway,,,

I was watching an interview that Ray Keith did with the Ratpack and they were saying that Searchin for my Rizla got to number one on the top 40 played on radio1.

I cant ever remember it being in the top 40, so googled the offical chart company and it got to 53.

I hate all this made up bullshit (some of it is due to drugs and hazzy memories, but this is just to make themselves sound good)

www.urbanagency.co.uk/ratpack/

"Throughout 1991 the boys toyed with a few ideas for their next record and came up with their biggest hit to date: Searching for my Rizla The record went straight in at No.1 in the UK and sat proudly on top beating the likes of Madonna and Kriss-Kross to the coveted spot. The record is now recognized as an anthem of that era, a view that is shared by most heads on the scene. This was quite an achievement especially as Radio 1 or other mainstream broadcasters, because of lyrical content, did not support the track."

Maybe it wasn't the mainstream charts, but the dance charts?

Captain of the ship was the much better song.

I'm also saying that seriously. It's as cheesy as hell, but had great nights out back in the revival days dancing and singing along to that at Raindance.

I meant more the mis-remembering or subverting the facts to make people sound more instrumental/popular etc.

As I don't go out anymore, The Ratpack don't bother me a bit. I don't even mind their tunes.

haha... well i dont like either (ratpack or exaggerating the truth)

Top Buzz are in my top 5 artists of all time, but Jason Kaye always "expands the truth"
saying "we produced the prodigy" - when he means we did a remix of one of their songs.

Slipstreem - We Are Raving is mint.

So is Searching for my Rizla, apart from the degeneracy in the lyrics. If it was about smoking a cig while on E then it would be alright. :^)

I am pretty sure I can remember that charting and like they said in the interview when the majors realised the content of the song they where playing versions where it just dropped out on key words like "Rizla","spliff" and "ganja"

I can remember their follow up ep "changing styles" .. didnt have quite the same impact
