dj jedi created a new topic ' Discogs Banning Bootlegs & Unofficial Releases' in the forum. 17 hours 59 minutes ago

Discogs have started banning the sale of bootlegs, for example if you check this label you can't list any of them for sale:

www.discogs.com/label/25046-The-Killah-Kuts

At the moment only the bigger bootleg labels have been blocked, but it's possible all bootlegs could be eventually. Hopefully they just block them from sale and not listing them completely.

Bernie Teeth created a new topic ' The "Hardcore" vocal on We Are Hardcore by The House Crew' in the forum. yesterday

Anyone know where this comes from, was it ever discovered?

Also, anyone know where the "Hardcore" vocal sample comes from on DJ SS E Face?

Cheers

In the north west its now mainly funky/tribal/EDM house thats ruling the roost everywhere.

Scouse House/Trance had its day for a while also, but like happy hardcore got infested with the worst type of chavs imaginable

Drum and Bass never really caught on properly ( I know there are nights at Warehouse Project etc) but vast majority

Saying all that there are some hidden nuggets of old skool nights dotted around up here, particularly if you are into Italo/Piano style. Not cheese either like Robin S, some proper old Italo heads running the nights

I remember reading about it on here about 3 years ago and the main talking point was the price.15 pounds for a new repress was the rumour. Not interested in the tune but hopefully it came out cheaper than that.

dj jedi wrote: Being a southerner I have no idea about Northern raves. I know there were a lot of ravers up north back in the day but I thought they were mainly into the piano house/club classics side of things rather than hardcore or jungle (of course there must have been exceptions.) I know that Slammin Vinyl cancelled their last event in Liverpool due to poor ticket sales.

I think it depends on the area. Certainly the North East and Yorkshire have their own quite self-contained scenes. You have hard trance (esp in Yorkshire)...also the general "Italian" sound - faster than house, not quite hardcore. Some of it's super cheesy, some of it's more like bouncy techno (eg Ramirez). And of course the Scottish/Dutch/German hardcore sound.

I do also know that some of the clubs that were big back in the old Scottish scene are now more standard commercial clubs (like the Fubar). I suspect there are maybe more venues like that up north than down south? Not sure.

Is it possible that this is more how these videos are being shot? Does it actually show an empty dancefloor?

Hi,

Yes, all these represses are being purchased in multiples, most of my friends tell me.

A few years ago, these new vinyl were limited to 1 per person.

I know lots of people on Discogs who don't even own turntables...

Lots of these more recent presses won't go for much on Discogs though, as I think lots of them are pressed in much bigger numbers, and the resellers will flood their own market...

It will certainly be interesting to see how long it lasts, sadly I think at least 25% of sales at the moment are prospectors buying stuff hoping they can flip on Discogs or eBay.

I guess Stu Allen was really well known comercially up north, I bet you see DJs like Dave Pearce and Judge Jules playing at these meat market "lads boozers" type clubs which they only do for the money, probably the same for Stu.

He broadcast his Bowlers set B2B with Faydz on Facebook. Hard to get a handle on the crowd as the stage was pretty far away. Looked busy, but not bursting at the seams.

I'd say 7/10 of his vids are of him in places like St. Helens, with about 30 people in the crowd having a drink. Why do the promoters bother?
