LFO - LFO: Up there in the top 10 best dance music tunes of all time, IMO.

Absolute belter! Can only imagine how much damage that did back in the warehouse days...

I thought Quadrophonia was a 91 tune as I heard it loads in Ibiza that year, but you're right, just checked the vinyl and it's 1990. I've had it under 1991 all these years in the rave history archive !

You're right it is often overlooked and I have just checked and have hardly any 1990 records in my collection. But I can think of a few stonecold classics:

LFO
Quadrophonia
Orbital - Chime
SUAD - £10 To Get In
Adamski - NRG (or Killer)
Xpansions - Elevation

You quite often hear the above at old skool raves still.

I used to play at them when DJ Supreme was running them 10ish years ago, but they have since gone through two different promoters. I think the most recent is Alex Energy.

This is the main problem with raves these days, the people who created them don't even run them any more, they just license the name out. I could name five or six events all put on by the same bloke.

Everyone bangs on about '88-'89 & '91-'93, and I've always thought that 1990 gets no love at all.

How come it seems like a forgotten year compared to the years I mentioned?

Also...

What were the big "Rave/House' tunes of that year? And who were the big DJ's/Labels & events of that period?

How do you remember that year (if you was active by then)?

Mainly '92-93 with 1994 getting a nod, but it was moving on and by '95 it was finished. Don't get me wrong, lots of great tunes circa '95 onwards but 1995 is the year that hardcore transitioned into old skool IMO.

As far as years that I didn't go out? That would be 1991, I was on the periphery late '91 and had started buying tunes to mix with (I came into it from that angle), but there was a lot of good '91 stuff that I missed out on and from what I was told it was a great year overall to be going out. But there's no denying that the magic year was '92, there was a definite confluence. I think if the tempo had been kept under control it could have lasted longer.

There is a "happy hardcore" night called HAS (Hardcore Appreciation Society) that only plays hardcore from 2000-2006ish. You know, before people started calling it UK hardcore

That label was applied around 2003 ! I'd class 2004-2006 as the golden years of UK Hardcore when Raverbaby,THC, Twista, Junkbox, Essential Platinum etc. were all at their peak. I'm not surprised that people are holding nights dedicated to those kind of tunes. Where do the events take place ?

Our next two vinyl pre-orders are now open, which take us up to our 20th release! They should both arrive in stock some time in late November or early December.

Kniteforce Remastered 5: Rarities features four tracks from the KF archives that have either never been released at all or are hard to find. Full details on this release can be found here:

I have heard the CD pack from the last one and the music was dreadful, but I don't really expect anything from events like this any more. Prefer the smaller events with interesting DJs and underground music. I won't name names but one of the sets on the CD pack is literally the worst old skool set I have ever heard, the DJ had clearly put no thought in to it and is obviously comfortable playing D&B these days where every track is within 2-3 bpm so you don't need to know the tunes. One example a 150bpm hardcore track with a with 125bpm acid house track. Absolute gash.

I'm sure I saw a thread on this before but can't find it. So who's going this Sunday? Usually considered one of the best events of the year with proper music unlike the big raves. Ratty playing his last ever London set, and Mark N (former DMC winner) doing a hardcore set.

I've noticed these out and about around town. I assume it's more drum and bass than old skool, but nice to see Cyndicut are still going and it's at the same place they used to hold the ROAR events back in the day.
