the worst sounding tune
What is the worst sounding tune you can think of? I don't mean to say its not liked i know people enjoy that bedroom muddy sound. Bit of a follow on from the formation posts that have been a good read

Re: the worst sounding tune
If you mean good tunes that sound crap (due to '8-bit-ness' / 'poor mastering') then:
(Far too low fi)
(Too distorted)
Mystical Units - Positively Evil (Original Release)
The remix release sounded much better

Brain stuff is notoriously bad on the mastering front:
Having said that Brain is one of my favourite labels and the roughness is part of the appeal. If it had Austin/Jack smooth levels of engineering it would have lost that gritty edge that I love about it...

Re: the worst sounding tune
I think this one I posted about last week is a good contender! So bad I can't even tell what speed it's supposed to be, so ripped it at both 33 and 45:
Most things by Satin Storm too, but I know I'll get rinsed for saying that :)

Simon Harris Illogical Beats EP.
Good tunes, but sound quality is rubbish.

(Too distorted)
renegade g that's a perfect example
It is quite hard to tell on these vid's how bad they are but this you just know it's going to be a shocker
I do like the tune though and would still buy it:)

Re: the worst sounding tune
Funnily enough - the bass on 'Insomnia - Nostalgic' is too much in the mix. Sounds better on Edds' press imo but still sounds heavy.
Still one of my favourite hardcore tunes though!
Another fav with awful production:
USI - That's The Mirror
Bad pressing too but 6 tunes on 12" is kinda asking for trouble!
@Eazyflow - yeah was gonna mention 'Brainstorm' & also 'Your Brains On Fire'
Ha think they needed a different engineer!

Good example of way too much high end. No bass at all on this one.... the hole e.p is the same

Re: the worst sounding tune
Nothing comes close to "On a level" (i think that's the name, the one with a piano sample) on this: http://www.discogs.com/Chris-Energy-The ... ter/500930
I've never heard muddier samples in my life. It's quite a crap tune in every other respect as well.
A real pet hate of mine are tunes with poor EQ, especially ones that are too harsh around the 2-5 kHz range. You know, that mid-high range that sounds like nails on chalkboard or knives in your ears when it's too loud in the mix. A lot of otherwise perfectly good hardcore tunes (especially white labels) suffered from this problem.
Shockin' to the Break of Dawn by DJ B & EZM is a prime example of this. Otherwise one of my all time favourite tunes, but practically unplayable due to the lack of EQ'ing.
