Wow... that's a lot of kind words in a very short space of time!

To clear up a few more things... There's a lot of inaccurate info about me knocking around on forums at the moment and whilst I'm flattered with the attention there are posts on the web about; mix tapes I've not done, venues I've never played and tunes I have not been a part of so if anyone needs anything clarifying just ask and I'll do my best.

What I suppose I should do first is list my old studio (Sound Entity) kit list to spill the beans on how I actually got 'my sound':

* Roland JX8-P (tek basses)
* Roland SH-101 X 2 (tek riffs)
* Roland Juno 106 (pads)
* Roland MKS-70 (pads)
* Roland JV-1080 (pads and tek sounds)
* Korg Wavestation A/D (pads)
* Korg 01/W (tek stabs) - you need to be a good programmer to realise the potential of this unit - as in the stabs from Plight of the Innovators and No 303 were made on this (using the in built waveshaping functionality).
* Novation Bass Station (acid)
* Yamaha TG500 (pads)
* Ensoniq ASR10 (drums & slicing loops)

I had other kit but the above kit was the main stuff used on a daily basis

I never used any processing, just simple effects (chorus, reverb, delay, flanger/phaser)

* Boss SE50
* ZOOM 9010
* Ensoniq DP/4
* Zoom 9030

I never used compression or any post production (although I do now).

My new kit list is very different and still growing, will post later.

Didn't recognise the name of the track "No 303" just listened now, not heard that for a long long time, immense tune!!!

No 303 is a cracking tune Ron as well as many of your others but have to say its all about V-10 Overload on that release for me ! Just noticed on you kit list as well you say you used the JX8-P for tek-bases. I got one of these at home and I am just in the process of setting up some studio harware (done the lazy thing and just used software before on productions) I look forward to checking it out fully !

I can only echo what the others have said above, anything on Basement or Sound Entity is just simply a cut above the rest. Mr Wells you have influenced a lot of people through your works....

One thought - can you imagine what tunes that were thrown out, and then having a memory come back to you where you remember seeing all these binmen playing 'frisbee' with a load of vinyl?? Makes I shudder!

Just noticed on you kit list as well you say you used the JX8-P for tek-bases. I got one of these at home and I am just in the process of setting up some studio harware.

Then you are a lucky boy! It's the bass on 'Visit to 14B' and on most Basement 4 till 15 releases (I played no part in the first 3). The JX8-P is a brilliant synth!

It is also providing the filtered pads in the breakdown on 'Plight of the Innovators'.

(You need to watch the timing on this board though as the envelopes can be a bit slow, so either pull it forward or delay everything else a few Milliseconds)

NOTE THAT... If you cut me in half it will say 'TECHNO' right through my body! Only yesterday I was driving to a business meeting listening to 'Juan Atkins 20 Years of Metroplex'.

Good to see you on here! I've always enjoyed the combination of breakbeats and lush Detroit techno style pads and synths in your tunes (much like Bukem's tunes but he always seemed to get more credit!) and the fact that the production standards were high. Detroit was obviously an influence but were you into hip hop too, because there's a nice range of breakbeats on the Basement tunes and the spotter in me is always trying to work out where they're from? Or did you just use breakbeat albums to sample from?
