Do you ever think about death?

Post by jimee » Fri Feb 18, 2011 10:29 am

Nice cheery topic for a Friday!

Cant say I do really, although last night I when in bed I just randomly thought about it, then it kinda freaked me out and I had to get up out of bed and go downstairs and do something - was quite weird, it was like 'shit one day.. omg' kinda thing, has anyone else had that, or am I a morbid weirdo lol!

I think about other people dying more than I do about myself

yeah, occasionally (not in a depressive way) - for other people as much as me.

Death holds no fear for me. Dying on the other hand.....

more so recently. Since having kids it's been more of a thinking topic!

What's also got me recently is that in the last year it's been aunts/uncles & mates parents dying. It's not grandparents anymore as in 2 generations it's only 1 generation up that are popping off these days!

Yep, one of my friends lost his mum just before Christmas so that brought it home. I found out one of my old schoolmates died a couple of years back too.

My mum work's in in the cancer ward delivering food and what not, death doesn't scare me because once your gone that's it, but knowing it's round the corner is a little hard to swallow.

What was it like, a mild panic attack ?

does anybody do anything to put off death like eating better or exercising? or do you just live how you please and accept you've got to go sooner or later anyway

call me weird but i do find the way people talk and act towards death really interesting.

there was an experiment done on recovering cancer patients once, they were picked specifically because they were regular coffee drinkers (i forget all the proper details). basically they were told to quit drinking coffee as there was a high chance cancer would return if they didnt. they found that only around 6% managed to quit! :-o were the other 94% not bothered about death?? :-?

my partner had a big cancer scare a few years back and has done NOTHING to improve her health since. my mum has started talking about death these last few years as some of her friends have died who are the same age, yet smokes, eats crap, drinks often and does no exercise what so ever. i just dont understand this mentality

Almost everyday. People die like flies around me, relatives, neighbors, makes me appreciate the simple little things in life more and tend to make career choices, money and stuff less important. I donate a little money now and then to the cancer research. One of my best friends mum got lung cancer now, lifetime smoker.

yup, started excercising regularly and eating better about two years ago and have kept at it. i wasn't even noticably fat, but i had a bit of a paunch and could feel i was really unhealthy. i was worried about my cardio and that was a motivation for me.
