trying to remove crowd noise from vocals

Post by aize » Sun May 10, 2015 6:12 pm

I've got a recording from a backstage interview and I just want to make the actual interview stand out a bit more from the background chatter/noise from the main room. I realize this is probably damn near impossible, because the background chatter and the interview share the same eq band but if anyone's got any tips/tricks, that'd be much appreciated. Ta.

iZotope RX 3 (or 4) is good at removing noise.
But this type of noise will probably damage the rest of the audio. Easier with string sounds / bass etc.

Using that, you highlight a section of the crowd sound & then remove it from the rest.
(You can slide settings about to get the best result).

Ah thanks, you've just reminded me, think there's a similar thing in cool edit pro and adobe audition. Is the Izotope one better?
