Liam Howlett DJ Set on East London Rave in 1991

Post by Ekko » Thu Oct 27, 2011 11:08 am

Hello good people,

you've probably come across this:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nyFz5bHO ... re=related#!

- I absolutely love it, it's a shame there's a part (I think 6/8 or 7/8) missing on youtube, but it's one of my favourite old skool mixes nevertheless.

Now there's tons of tunes I could ask for, as they're all so beautiful, but especially the one starting around 7:03 (starting with these mad stabs) is doing my head in. I heard it before, but I can't find it.

Would love to find out - thank you very much!

Thanx a bunch, Trash,

I didn't have time to listen to the tunes, but I suppose it's another playlist, not the one for the Howlett mix, innit? Or did you mean the track in question was in this playlist as well?

I think he is saying the mix on You Tube was done by Kid Bippy and not Liam Howlett.

It certainly sounds like Kid Bippy scratching.

The tune you're after is the first unknown tune on the tracklist by the looks of it. Not much help in that sense but you said in your original post that there were others you wanted too. It's deffo' the correct tracklist for this mix & definitely not Liam Howlett.... ;)

Ah, got it,
yeah, it's good to have the almost full playlist, as there's some tunes I didn't know but liked, so highly appreciated!

I was pretty sure about this being from Liam, as there were some significant moments like this Public Enemy part, but I checked another Kid Bippy Set and the style is quite similar: fast paced transitions, scratching and generally very playful mixing, so this might be Bippy after all..

Wrong titles :( There is something at 45:00 that resembles N-Joi - Techno Gangsters, but it's also mixed with more obvious samples of 808 State - Cubik.
Are there any ideas about what are those tracks? I can re-upload mix if needed.
