Thats sounds bout right!
Apparently its a deck type thing that is attached to your current decks and you use a cd to scratch over the tunes you're playing!

I have no idea if any of that made any sense!!!

Hmmm.... i dont know... there is something you can get which attaches to your vinyl decks to control compatible CD players (this - http://www.htfr.com/more-info/MR130460 )but not heard of anything exactly like what you've said. CD decks can attach to the same mixer and therefore you could scratch (with the right one) over whatever was playing from the normal vinyl decks ..... not sure why you'd want to though.

Ta to all for all your help, but i'm still lost!

I've been told it plugs into your mixer, and you can buy a cd with loads of scratching samples on it so you can mess about with it and.......shit! :|

I think i might just stick with the 8berth tent i was gonna get for his birthday instead!
If he wants something technical he can bloody well get it himself!!!

you need a CD deck to controll it anyways aswell as a vinyl deck
the prices have dropped on cd dexx hence why they stopped making it
also because of sereto scratch live and FSL coming out

sounds like serato scratch to me, although you put a time coded vinyl on your normal deck you still need a pc to run the actual software - it does come with a CD with scratch samples on as well i think.

the cheaper option is to get a CD deck though like Jamie mentioned, i can't vouch for any of them other than the Technics one which Stu Chapman came round to try out & scratched the bollocks off of it with out any problems whatsoever!
in fact it put up with much more punishment than a vinyl deck would and still didn't skip or freeze!
