Techno at raves

Post by ian saunders remix » Mon Sep 21, 2015 8:09 pm

Not gabba.

As I'm old and don't go out anymore, does techno feature in anyway at raves? Not the odd tune in a set, but full sets of old skool or new techno? I think it'd I'd enjoy a bit of techno amidst the breakbeats.

At our Distant Planet parties we tend to have some sets of oldskool techno 91-92 sorta stuff. There is so much cheap Belgian Techno out there which is amazing its unreal.

Unfortunately multi-genre events are a dying breed, for some reason people seem to like hearing the same thing all night these days :(

Trade at turnmills was ace at setting the scene - stating with almnost disco then getting deeper and deeper in to techno/hard house and by 10am you were so wankereed as long as it had a bassline, high hat, snare and something synthy you would be tearing up the floor

Loads of brilliant techno nights across the country that are willing to play hardcore/breakbeat influenced techno, given the exciting bass music hybrids of the past few years: think A Made Up Sound and Beneath.

Here's a rough list:
Plex.
Them.
Bloc - anything on at Automn Street Studios...
Boxed (more grime...)
House Of God
Secht
Code.
Dog Saves Dog.
+loads of nights in London, Brum, Manchester, Sheffield and Bristol.

Clubs to check out:
Corsica Studios.
Dance Tunnel.
Fabric (on occasion.)
Hope Works
Bevor Works.
Tunnel Club
Mint Club.
Soup Kitchen.
Wharf Chambers
Arnalfini.

Really looking forward to this in a couple of weeks :) :)
Going to be brilliant and brutal, but not necessarily in a thump the crowd to death kind of way.

Actually heading to Brum for House of God in a bit. Bit of oldskool/jungle/bass in room 2.

I'll be in the techno room though. I'm all about today, not yesterday!
