Your favourite Rising High Records!

Post by caspian » Sun Jul 05, 2015 7:25 pm

Loved Casper Pounds record label, I've never heard it get much attention amongst the online old skool communities. So many gems from RH which I missed out on BITD are now as cheap as chips on discogs.

Hypnotist - House is Mine
Project One - Smokin, Roughneck, Smokin' Challice, Can't Take the Heartbreak
Earth Leakage Trip - Virtuality (top FSOL style trippy breakbeat)
Toytown EP
Subway - Launchpad EP (not sure why this isn't more well known - I believe it's the same people who did the Moog stuff)
Black Dog Productions EP - absolutely fucking incredible!
Balil - Parasight EP
Air Liquide - Stratus Static
Sound Enforcer - Reinforcement (top Dave Angel techno)
Luke Vibert's EPs as "Plug" - if you don't know, get to know!

Think they put out a lot of dodgy trance too, though.

Can we have Sapho records, too (sub label)? Darkstar, Onyx III and Energy Zone, all good stuff!

Yeah fine be me! All the sister related labels can be included.

I'm sure I read somewhere that Silver Planet Recordings was also closely linked to RH and was supposed to continue from where they finished?

as far as more straight-up hardcore goes, that's probably my favourite one as well. I really love that Energy Zone EP too, if that counts.

also:

Earth Leakage Trip - Neapolitan (i like that "ice cream" tune)
Knight Phantom - Worldwide Terror (maybe the hardest Rising High tune not licensed from elsewhere?)
Signs of Chaos - Crackerjack

Some of my faves that havent been mentioned are:

Friends, Lovers & Family - Childrens Stories / The Lift - A side from an earlier release and is amazing. The Lift is the one though. So much going on in that one track. A really underated artist if you ask me.

Knight Phantom - What's The Situation Now - First heard on an old Mickey Finn studio tape. Techno with breaks. Perfect

Dark Syndicate - Feel The Fire / Do It Jah - The amens on Do It Jah are brutal

Interface - Ash Trax Vol 1 - Son Of Matthew - No words needed.

Project 1 - Come My Selector (Tuffhead Mix) - Not heard on many tapes but this is a superb remix.

Friends, Lovers And Family* ‎– In Search Of A Cool Place EP - Ordinary People - Quite an odd track but brings back memories of an old Simon Bassline Smith set i used to have.

Love Inc ‎– Trance Atlantic XS (E.P.) - Planetfall - Great techno stomper that brings back memories of the classic Lenny Dee and Stevie Hyper D set from Interdance.

A lot of the later releases were licensed from other labels. I rate these ones

R.D.1* ‎– Total Eclipse E.P. - Eclipse - Classic acidy trance track.

Pink Elln & Atom Heart ‎– Elektroniikkaa 1&2 / Electronique - Amazing ambient techno clocking in at over 20 mins per track

Biochip C., Jammin' Unit & Walker* ‎– Shark-Trax - Dark acid classics

I could go on an on and in my opinion their techno output was just as important as the hardcore they put out.

Here's quite an obscure one I like http://www.discogs.com/Rising-High-Coll ... ase/235137

It was on a Colin Faver mix I had in late 92, had to grab it once I IDd it! More ambient techno than hardcore but a nice tune I think (A side)

Yep probably "Party Time" on this EP for me. One of the first hardcore tracks I ever heard on my first tape, Easygrove @ Fantazia Second Sight.

I picked up 'Launchpad EP' a few years ago. Quality stuff.
'House Is Mine' is a classic.
'Return To Toytown' was one of the first Hardcore tunes that I bought back in 92......

Most of my favourites have already been mentioned, but gotta give a +1 for 'Do It Jah' and 'Icecream Van From Hell'

So many good tunes on this label, hypnotist was the first one I bought and loved it so bought most RH tunes on sight.

Agree with all the tunes mentioned.

This is an excellent tune, bit more commercial like shades of rhythm. Not what you would expect from this label.
