So long as your not ripping of a whole track & making it out to be yours...
A la Fernie : Pipez (Hedgehog Affair : The Pipe)... we were not amused.

That's got to be the biggest piss take in rave history? I can think of lots of tracks that sample whole sections of other tunes or are full of loops, but I've never heard anybody take an entire track and just layer some extra breaks over it before.

isn't that what In Complete Darkness is basically? i think there are others...

i think there's something worse about it being another rave tune though, in a way. so it's not even like someone heard a tune in another style and thought "i'd love to hear that as a hardcore track", it's just more transparently, "that tune is good so i'm going to copy it almost exactly".

(although i think biggest pisstake is maybe Techno Wonderland. which, as well as being awful, i think is just someone else's tune with no changes at all :D)

Actually yes I've just thought of a worse culprit, the B side of this:

http://www.discogs.com/DJ-Breeze-Barber ... ase/249936

It's literally just a trance track sped up and pressed on vinyl :)

Recon's "pullover" http://www.discogs.com/Re-Con-Re-Con-EP/master/225009

is just this tune but with percussion added to make it UK Hardcore ..

same thing with this: http://www.discogs.com/Angel_One--Adrim ... ase/243292 - a tune that Hixxy used to cane early 2000s. which i imagine has nothing to do with this release, of course.

although i maintain that Techno Wonderland is even lazier because they didn't even speed it up :D

In Complete Darkness: Fat controller mentioned on the Billy Bunter radio show that he cleared all the samples and still has the relevant paperwork.

The Janet Jackson one didn't need clearing as it was spoken word and relatively short, although he attempted to as part of the process

The internet and algorithms to detect copyright are making sampling more tricky to get away with now.
