I didn't - I didn't start driving until 1998 when I was 23 (when my first car was a Y reg Mk 1 1.1 Fiesta)....

Obviously I used to cadge lefts with my mates during the 'golden years' of 91 - 93, whose cars included:
> Another 1.1 Mk1 Fiesta
> Yet another 1.1 Mk1 Fiesta, this time with XR2 pepperpots that rubbed the arches
> Vauxhall Chevette
> Mini
> Automatic Opel Kadett
> Renault 9
> Vauxhall Astra

I spent a lot of evenings parked up in rural Essex smoking weed in the back of most of them, persuading the drivers to play D60's of the new hardcore tunes that I'd just bought....

My cross-country raving days were spent driving a MK2 Fiesta, Orion, and a Fiat Regatta. All of which were absolute death traps but we clocked up some serious mileage!

My purple MK II Escort with X-Pack, RS alloys, K&N air filter, red exhaust system (brand name escapes me) lowered and stiffened shocks. Fucking great fun that car was. 1600 engine 1300 gearbox, it used to wheel spin through the first 3 gears :)
Oh yeah and stolen Blaupunkt car stereo.

My first car was an Astra GTE. It was my Dad's that he didn't really use due to having a work vehicle.

This was the model

I had a Mark 1 Astra too, it was the SR or SRI version & I whacked some really wide alloys on it & a twin oval backbox... It looked amazing from behind!
Only trouble was the wheels stuck out an inch from the arches & when I had 5 people in the car I couldn't drive faster than 30MPH for fear of the tyres popping when they hit the arches :D
