Jamie XX - In Colour

Post by dj_gyr8 » Mon Apr 27, 2015 6:09 pm

Hi,

So what you guys think to the new Jamie XX album?

Lots of slowed down beats we're very much used to...

Interesting to hear samples of well known DJ's too, like MC MC at Fantazia Big Bang...

It really is a weird album, as it is pretty good, and listenable, but it sounds like tracks someone who never heard our genre or scene, has just sampled and looped, but slowed down...

I heard the track 'All raving under one roof' and while I spotted lots of MC sampling and the girl from the World Dance Access All Areas video sayings 'its just the big one, know what I mean' it didn't really do it for me, all a bit slow and wasn't quite sure where it was going.. will check out the album to see what the other tracks are like though.

Hi,

Yes, really needs to be listened to as a whole album...

Your comment about being too slow - yeas, to us, it sounds weird hearing vocal samples, MC samples, and then the break beats, reduced to such a slow speed - but that really is what the generic listener likes, for example Daft Punk sound...

I've only heard that one track. Don't dislike it but i doubt i will be rushing out to buy the album.
