an absolutely wonderful cause and I have donated.

However mixmag have got their headline wrong;

The "creator" of the amen break is drummer Gregory Coleman, who died a few years ago, homeless i believe and will not see a penny.
Richard L Spencer - (Lead vocals and sax player) who wrote the arrangement.

I gave a fiver. Label owners should really stump up for this.

Yeah great love from the community so far but must admit I haven't seen many donations or even shares from any well-known producers/DJs yet that basically owe their careers to this guy. I even saw one prolific producer saying he wasn't going to donate because the drummer had already died! Sadly the music industry has never been a generous place.

This is great. What is the time limit for making donations?

:D

Peace...

Hi Liquid - hope you are well mate

There is no time limit, but we want to try and hit $15000USD as soon as we can. Dest is in constant contact with Richard and work is being done to include family of the drummer too. However, these things take time and we wont be closing down the page.

What would be good is if people donate a couple of quid every time they use the sample, then its an ongoing process.

Anyway, either donate, share or both. Its all appreciated, and it gives back to the people that helped to make it.

Strength in numbers!!!

I just chipped in with the following caveat:

"Personally, I never dabbled with Amen much at all… and I was strongly against an entire genre being built on it. That aside, when gifted originators are ripped off to such extent, I can’t help but sympathise. Ron Wells PKA Jack Smooth"

Brilliant idea to help members of a group who deserve credit for what they gave to ten's of thousands of producers to create not only tracks but genres out of this one break.
I personally don't use the Amen much, but my work is very breakbeat driven and its a pleasure to give something back.

Thanks
