DJ Slipmatt set that needs bringing to everyones attention

Post by DJQUICKLUNG » Thu Feb 05, 2015 2:24 pm

Firstly apologies for posting in the ''old skool chat'' section, just think people won't see this otherwise in the mixes section.

Slipmatt has played over 20 Mindwarp's since Mindwarp started in 1992 in Colchester Essex and has rocked each one he's played at each and every.

Last Nov he played Mindwarp - Goes Clubbing at Tribal - Colchester and was booked to play dark and something a bit different from the normal.
The whole place was rammed to to the max (squeezing anymore people would have been getting dangerous) and the whole night was a night of pure filth from start to finish 2BAD MICE & Donovan BB Smith also delivering exceptional sets whilst surrounded by some ridiculously dark and evil new KAOS backdrops and a light and lazer show.

Now i know many people on here won't even give this a go but check this Slipmatt set out. In my opinion the best i've ever heard from him since at least 1991 and just totally digging into the archives. And the door tax was only a fiver :p No fucking about! It's be great to hear peoples opinions on this set as i really feel this is quite special for the real old skool headz! Cheers

Checked this out already - a really good 1991 set.
Typically for the 10 years + that i lived in Colchester the Old Skool events were scarce to non-existant......

I moved there in around Feb 1999 (from Braintree) and moved down here to Watford in 2010.
Good times (mostly!).......

Great set that, not heard Slipmatt play anything like that for years.

What is the tune at 10:30 ? I know i've got it, just can't remember the name for the life of me - am sure Joey Beltram used to play it too.

Just finished listening through... while I thought it was spot on technically, and maintained energy all the way through, for me Slippers could have done more with the tune choices, especially towards the end.

With that said, I'd be happy to play a set like it. Probably would have picked Brazil rmx in favor of the original for starters, although I still have a soft spot for the original mix :D

I don't suppose anyone happens to know what the tune is at 34.50? I think it's N'joi, but the only release I can find it on is "Live in Manchester" and it's mixed up with other tunes in the mix. Anyone know which release it is or if it was even released "un-mixed"?

The tune at 34:50 is N'Joi - Manic (from the 'Music From A State Of Mind' ep)

Thanks for the heads up about this mix - this is RIGHT up my street
Good to hear tunes like Incubus and Major Problems being played out

Slightly off topic, but its amazing how many tracks i've IDed from that era that are by 'NJoi'. And how good they all are......especially considering that i didn't think i liked 'Njoi'!

Nice1. This also sounds up my street, so looking forward to checking it out.

The below is one of his best ever sets, which would be very very hard to top.

Slipmatt - Raindance 91 Studio Mix

Cheers for posting.
